I do mine with ChaosPro!
The basics.... Parameters window choose "kaleidagon" Then if you scroll down you will haver other options.
Play with it a bit..
Animation window click add. play againn then add again etc..
Embossing is done as aliasing rendering choice. (custom)

I have been working on generating kaleidoscopes from fractal images for several months. While it is still experimental, here is my first attempt.
http://www.youtube.com/v/Tf8p2BWSJBY&rel=1&fs=1&hd=1How it was made: I selected the base fractal image from one that I made using a 2D fractal generation program. I then developed a technique in POVRay to create a moving kaleidoscope from an image, adding texture (this video rendered on a 30-60-90 triangle image), and used the audio data from the music to determine lighting and image motion effects. The final sequence was constructed from 9,960 frames that took 8+ days to render in POVRay.

Bent Winged Angel - The frame rates seem really low. To be honest I find that really distracting. Can you render them at 24 frames/sec or higher? They'll look much more fluid then.
