sweet! The second one has the lid open, right?
Probably no one knows the answer, but: how long before processors are fast enough to render a fly-through of comparable quality per frame--say, 60 fps and a 2-minute vid, rendered in less than 30 mins? (That's one frame rendered every 10 seconds.) Amazing to think that in 5 years (or however long it's going to take according to Moore's law) we'll still complain it's not fast enough...

Nice cathedral you found there @ processors - the answer lies in the GPU I guess... impressive realtime stuff has been done with them by now The only issue seems to be the precession... But that might vanish too...

I'm curious about those Greek cross style structures in the second pic... I wonder if zooming in on the intersection would reveal more exact patterns.

Someday, man will understand primary theory; how every aspect of our universe has come about. Then we will describe all of physics, build a complete understanding of genetic engineering, catalog all planets, and find intelligent life. And then we'll just puzzle over fractals for eternity.

I'm curious about those Greek cross style structures in the second pic... I wonder if zooming in on the intersection would reveal more exact patterns. Yes there are similar cross patterns at all scales, as far as I zoomed, approx 1E-9 with 20.000 iterations and a relatively low bailout of 80. It's unusual how decreasing (not too much) the bailout enhances the level of details in this fractal. http://www.fractalforums.com/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=1779

While trying not to sound weird I'd really like to run my fingers over that first pic, it looks so tactile Fractal penguins (down the middle (if you squint)) This one reminds me of a regal theatre entrance. Tricky to get it to look good with strong colours but I like the colours at the top. 4 cuts of the box- I think I'll lay off the gold colouring now

Great shots Tglad. I like the bright colors of the theatre entrance and the pyramid is cool too (would probably deserve better background and lighting) My turn (unfortunately I could not get totally rid of the noise) with a picture called "CPU City": http://www.fractalforums.com/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=1797

those "fractal penguins" have a close correlation with actual Msets Looks very nice! I also like the theatre and the CPU City a lot :)The pyramid indeed would be way better with a propper background/lighting.

those are some great arch ornaments I wonder how long it'll take until someone does true architecture based on features of those

EXCELLENT use of fog! Makes it seem to extend for miles. I like these styles of Mandelbox images (and I also like that movie FX are finally getting fog and other sense-of-scale things right; first noticed with the Machine in Contact that they were starting to get atmospherics right on CG things that were supposed to be very big and distant).
