Really neat!
Now if only it worked a bit faster / resource-friendly/ higher-res...
This kind of stuff could be perfect for raytracing acceleration... Provided it'd actually accelerate the process rather than decelerate.

raytracing is nothing special, because it just needs faster computers, but here it is used to create intermediate results, as said, could be used to stitch loosely belonging pictures like streetview together for a continous movement, create views to objects from not photographed directions

and the scifi stuff that we see sometimes on tv, like scaling stuff ridiculously, filling new details with senseful stuff, reconstructing a full face out of a parted view, "look behind walls" when removing parts of images ... wink

here, raytracing isn't used at all.
Raytracing indeed isn't particularly special but the prospect of highly physically inspired, unbiased montecarlo raytracing becoming plausible and (practically) noise free at interactive frame rates and large resolutions is.
Though this tech, as is, will be better for tweening (which literally is what this is) so it could significantly cut down on rendering times of deep-zoom fractals.
