Hi there,
Just thought some folk here might find it interesting that the Mandelbulb made an appearance in Big Hero 6. I thought it was so cool myself to see!
I think I also saw some cool 3D fractals in an episode of Futurama...
Does anyone else know of any cool fractals in film and video?

i was just rewatching the matrix movies the other day and noticed that the orange firey opening sequence to matrix revolutions is a mish mash of various mandelbrot patterns, and again later in the movie when they are flying over the machine city when neo looks down with his matrix vision or whatever

Nice find. I dont know any movies but today I noticed some fractls in textures in Skyrim. And one of the characters is actually talking about fractals. Nice to look for them this way.

Motivation is like a salt, once it has been dissolved it can react with things it comes into contact with to form something interesting.

The Frozen fractal reference was already mentioned in another thread.
I've now see Big Hero Six. Cute and charming movie (though especially the few fighting scenes are very much tuned to a young audience and indeed there were plenty of very young kids watching) and the Mandelbulb renders are beautiful if blurry (due to DOF effects - it's meant as a mesmerizing background, after all. Not something to completely steal the show on its own) It seemed very well perceived, in that, when the fractal became visible for the first time, there was a collective "whoooaaa" going through the cinema. That reaction surprised me but it was nice.
