Hello, you can call me Tame.
I've been interested in fractals since I first saw a video about them a couple of years back. That lead me to download the Mandelbulb 3D and I messed around with it for some time fascinated by the shapes it generated (I have a bunch of old images). I also really like to tinker with things, for example how to import 3D fractals into 3D mesh modeling program:
http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?280551-Importing-voxel-slices-to-Blender-from-Mandelbulb-3D-2000-3-voxel-resolution.
Though I'm a machine engineering student, I decided I'll try and learn some programming on my own just for fun. Lately I've been doing some C++ with Qt Creator every now and then. I really like graphics stuff, like langton's ant etc. It's fun to try to realize a idea you get, like "I wonder what would happen if... or how would this look...", make it and watch what happens. I'm really a beginner programmer, but I've been able to hack some things together. My latest project has been a fractal generator. In the beginning I just though: well, lets just see if I can draw the mandelbrot set. Then I've keep adding things (starting to get cluttered because I didn't think I would expand it so much, lol)... I haven't actually tried any other fractal program than the Mandelbulb 3D (and my own), but I think I should check em out at some point. My program only does some basic stuff and is limited to double precision, or slow arbitrary precision floats, so it's not for zooming. But it's really fun to be able to edit the code and watch what happens (and it's somewhat satisfying to generate pictures with a program you made yourself).
I'm kind of fond of high resolution images, but don't you worry, I made a deviantart account so I can link from there.
I guess I'll start by sharing some of the latest stuff I've got out of my tests.
First here's a funny one, I remember I made some mistake rearranging the code for mandelbrot and got some weird images. I though, heck, these look interesting, and made some further changes and finally got this:
"Look of infinity":

Here's a nice Julia version of it:
