Hello there, My name is Jorge. I'm from Uruguay, and just found out about fractals a few days ago, suddenly math became interesting. I'm your "normal" person you could say, finished hschool but not really acquainted at math, I found it quite boring but really intereseted in programming and the challenges it proposes. After watching 2 old documentaries about fractals I am suddenly hooked and interested. And have so many questions about them. My main "Woah!" moment was when I watched a guy from Boeing in the 80's made mountains out of fractal geometry, From there i got feeling of "Wow, that's how it's done!", now I'm wondering about formulas for trees, and renders of a lot of things.
So, since I'm not really educated at math, maybe someone could show me a good introductory book on the subject, possibly not something academic, since I don;t actually like heavy reading, I'm more interested in the "Woah!" moments. So, two things I'm looking for, fractal geometry introduction, and a fallback math fun book.
* Stupid theoretical question ahead *
Has anyone tried file compression by making a vectorized image?
I'm just wondering if placing bits on an array making an image map. Could you get the formula for those bits? and make a vectorized image for decompression later?
Is that even theorically viable?

Thank you, I hope to have a great time reading this forum.
Cheers.
