This is the legendary zoom made by phaumann in December 2009.

This was by far the deepest zoom at that time, and a clever zooming method was invented to make a decent movie out of only some 700 pixels rendered per frame.
But we had to use a lot of imagination to preceive the structures...

According to phaumann a total of 12.5 million pixels was rendered in 3 months. In this movie some 1.6 billion pixels was rendered in about 2 weeks on a quadcore 64-bit laptop. Most with frames of 1280x720 and some with 960x540. If phaumann would have rendered the original movie in this resolution, it would have taken more than 30 years - there would still be more than 25 years to go!
The speed up, thanks to the fantastic Perturbation and Series Approximation methods, invented and generously shared by K.I.Martin and completed by Pauldelbrot, is more than 750 on this movie!

I remember when I couldn't believe that video had been rendered. It just seemed too dense and deep to be possible, and it was, in a way. Just a very clever rendering technique
