Hi all, I just found this forum via youtube and had to join. I have been making 2D Julia set fractal animations and posted a few on youtube. Then I looked at some of the 3D fractal animations on youtube OMG !. I now want to learn about 3D fractals.
Thanks Russ

Hello and welcome to the forums   afro

Have you found a 3D Fractal program you're comfortable with yet?

I'm sure you'll have fun with whichever one you choose   cheesy

Thanks, I had have not tried any 3D stuff. I would like to learn more of the theory about them first. I wrote my own 2D fractal generator in compiler Power Basic which generates the bitmap image frame files. I'm using EasyBMPtoAVI to make an uncompressed AVI file from the bitmap files. I then convert the large AVI file to an mp4 file. I'm probably doing this the hard way!

Sorry, but I only grasp the theory enough to get a feel for what's going on.  Nowhere near enough to aid in writing a program   :smiley

There's a great programming section here, and even the thread where the Mandelbulb was originally discovered!  So I'm sure you can find the sort of information you seek   afro

Welcome Haversine, I do not know EasyBMPtoAVI, I use VirtualDub free software. Your workflow is good, you are not doing it the hard way IMHO. smiley

Hi mclarekin, EasyBMPtoAVI is an old (2006) command line program where you have to give the start frame number, end frame number, frames per second, ... etc. It has a two GB size limit on the output avi file but it was free. I will look into VirtualDup.
Thanks Russ
