Today I read some interesting articles by Ingvar Kullberg, who I know has been active on this forum before, about chaotic systems. When he introduced third degree polynomials, I decided to explore a little. Based on the formula z -> a * z^3 + b * z^2 + c * z + seed, I quickly made a formula in ChaosPro, and rendered this movie. Changing only a, b and c, much interesting happened:

The first thing you should want to do is of course to download some software, like ChaosPro or Ultra Fractal. Then you might find interesting tutorials on the net or just play around. You're bound to find something fascinating anyhow, after all we're dealing with fractals here.

Finally someone who uses different polynoma sets...

I used Melinda Green's buddhabrot technique to render a variety of formula sets. Later (on the 1st and 2nd page), you'll also see some asymmetric ones, which are randomly valued mandelbrots from the general 5th degree polynome aZ^5+bZ^4+cZ³+dZ²+eZ+fC with a b c d e f being complex smiley
