Hello.
I have just started trying some different fractal software programs and I am trying to learn all I can about Apophysis and also Fractal Explorer. I want to use the FE attractor tool but I can't find out anything about it after a search.

Is there anything comparable to the attractor in Apophysis?  Please tell me where I can find a good guide or tut on using the attractor in my FE.

The only Fractal maker I've used before is UF 5.04 and boy, there's a lot of work dealing with that one!  And while I'm on the subject, is there a way to get the 3D look with UF 5.04?

Thank you,
pslane

Sorry it took me so long to get back.

I've seen some interesting results from the FE attractor mode.  All I can do with it is to open a new file, chose an attractor from the drop down list and pick colors.  Then there are filters to choose from.  Other than that I can't do anything with it and I know there's a way to edit more but can't find it. How can I find out more about this?

Thank you for responding.

Well, if you open a square with colors that controls the lights, on the last line there is attractors parameters editor.
You can choose too a formula making clic on Attractor in the main window in the upper line.
When you clic on the square alpha you get random parameters for the formula you choose.
After you choose your attractor is important to select the iteration number, higher  is better. and the dot size. The coloring is using the lights.
I hope this information can help you, if you need something else ask again. Fractal explorer can make very beautiful fractals.

This working better now that I've found some controls.  The parameter editor in the color tool doesn't respond so I need a way to work with the parameters  Where is the square alpha that you mentioned where I can change parameters?
Thanks,

I've just gone into something called quaderneon and there are some spectacular images there but is this still considered an attractor?  Thanks.

the square alpha is at the side of the light control(the square with colours), theonly way to change the parameters is opening the light control, it has down tworectangles for input, there you change the parameters.Maybe you are not seeing the parameters work, if you choose them and you are in a point the attractor doesnt exist, you can not see something.
Quaternions are not attractor, they are other kind of fractals of 4 dimensions x, y,z and i, you can find them tooin mandelbulb 3d

In the light control box, the parameter drop down list changes numbers but nothing happens on the fractal/attractor image.  Maybe you can explain better with a screen shot.  I do get a bit of color changes when I slide the color nodes around.

You are right, it doesn't work, maybe is a bug on the program.I search on internet and dont find anything about it.But i find how you can edit it, save the fractal open it as a text file, and change the values of the parametersand save, i tried that but don't expect something amazing.
