Hello everybody smiley

I have a idea : create a simple "benchmark-file" for Mandelbulb3D to give a idea of capacities of computer.

To make that, we need a "base of work" with the config of many users.

Example

User 7 : 1450 seconds. -> Config 1 : Simple core - 1go RAM

User 5 : 845 seconds. -> Config 2 : i3 - 2go RAM

User 3 : 725 seconds  -> Config 3: i3 - 4go RAM

User 4 : 647 seconds -> Config 4 : i5 - 4go RAM

User 2 : 585 seconds -> Config 5: I5 - 6Go RAM

User 1 : 495 seconds -> Config 6 : i7 - 6 Go RAM

User 7 : 435 seconds -> Config 7 : Config : i7 - 8Go RAM

User 6 : 395 seconds -> Config 8 : Config : i7 - 12Go RAM

Then, when the render of benchmark-file is done, anybody can know where is his configuration on the table.

Config 1 :Up to 1250 seconds
Config 2 :1249 - 800 seconds
Config 3 :799 - 700 seconds
Config 4 :699 - 600 seconds
Config 5 :599 - 500 seconds
Config 6 :499 - 450 seconds
Config 7 :449 - 400 seconds
Config 8 :399 - 0 seconds

then we can made a table to "classify" the pictures by render-time

0 to 1/2h1/2h to 1h1h to 2h2h to 4h4h to 8h8h to 12h12h to 18h18h to 24hUp to 24h
Config 1

Then we can classify pictures when the render is done, from A1 for a very quickly render to H9 for very long-time render.

If someone have a i5 with 6go RAM and make the benchmark with 460 seconds, he know that he have a "Config 6".
When he make a new picture, if the render equal to  4 hours 30 minutes, we have a "F5" picture.

Do you think it's a good idea??

For the categories of config, i think to a sub-divised table like this one :

but actually, there's not enought "middle-value" i think.

Cool. My Phenom X6 is roughly as fast as you can get, then, save for that super-expensive-no-doubt overclocked i7. wink (Video card works decently with Fragmentarium, too.)

It's difficult to gain meaningful results. While a phenom II x6 is still one of then best choices when it comes to raw multicore performance, it'll fall back some places, when heavy dof is included. the single thread performance of this cpu is rather lousy (I have one myself)
