According to an article posted a couple of days ago, an invisible cloaking device has been prototyped and publicly demonstrated:

Apparently this is done through the use of metamaterials, microwaves, and wide bandwidth.  Now if they can only get this applied to a large piece of cloth which could be rapped around someone...    cheesy
