That's a nice system, somewhat distantly similar to wireworld, just working with quantum physics.

Interesting, he seems to be interested in replicating the logic gates of a 'quantum computer' using a simple set of rules. Though it definitely looks more complicated than Conway's game of life. On the other hand it is a bit more understandable because it is basically points bouncing off hard objects.

I didn't understand the superposition part, did he mean that each cell can have a real number weight (e.g. 1/root(2) of state 0) or are there basically just 4 possible mixed states from the raw 2 bits of information per cell?

I would be interested to see quantum cellular automata that replicate the wave function of particles, and see how they behave on random data sets with various different rules for particle interactions.
