Four or five years ago I did a video with a midi track that was composed with a program called "Musinum".
The program has been out of development for over ten years, apparently.
I'm not sure if the midi is necessarily "fractal".  But I was totally jazzed that I was able to produce a tune with a recognizable chord progression.
I don't remember much about the musinum program, only that it somehow uses numbers to different bases to generate the notes.

The program was difficult to use and I half lost interest and half had too many other things to do so put experimentation with it aside and never got back to it.
But I think it's too bad that development of the program was discontinued... I think it has a lot of potential.
Somewhere around I have the original parameter files for the midi which I'd be happy to share if anyone is interested in looking at the program.

The video isn't much to phone home about.  tongue stuck out
I was experimenting with a program called "Kaleider" to see what it would do with flame animations.
If you can forgive the video, you may find the tune kind of interesting for a computer generated piece.
(btw, I was a bass player in my youth, so the tune includes some bass soloing cheesy)
Unfortunately I couldn't figure out a way to make a nicer ending.
I did not do any post processing with Musinum's output.

here's the video:
