hi there,

i am just a little bit excited about what is going on in the real world, and point out what purpose this forums already served:

THE DEATH OF POLYGON REPRESENTATION FOR 3D PRINTERS

as bib started a great discussion:

this is about 3d printing

and in the course of the discussion an analysis popped out, that is actually using the mandelbulb to show some effects,
and i HAVE TO POINT OUT that the discussion the 3d mandelbulb already served a purpose!!!

the purpose is the following:

to demonstrate that vector representation is far too inefficient in representating real life data, and for example this guy
used the mandelbulb to argue:

so, dudes, congratulations for that, without THIS FORUMS and without you crazy bunch of people addicted to fractals the guy
would have really a hard stand to prove his point because such detailed objects would be hard to create... at least not in such
a simple way as the mandelbulb is constructed ...

Quite an interesting. Well, so far there is not much advanced 3D to print.

And when folks found Troy or Gilgamesh tablets, this greatly inspired design and architecture of the era.

To be honest the best format for 3D printers would presumably be layer by layer slices as even voxel must be converted to this in the end...of course appropriate layer by layer slices could quite easily be produced in any fractal software given an appropriate colouring algorithm.

Fantastic validation of a point of view i hold dearly about this forum , and that means the people that support it > Not only is it an invaluable scientific breakthrough forum, it is also a breakthrough forum in every aspect of technology from weaving to sinter manufacture.
The complex trochoids used here, plus the splines are a designers dream and a manufacturers guilty secret goldmine!

And as David says , there is more yet to come.

Chris, this may not be a financial goldmine, but culturally it is a priceless treasure you are struggling to maintain.
