Hi, i'm new to this forum and i've been seeing people discuss formulas while posting stuff like this:

I can't figure out how to use that information. Am I reading this in the wrong format or something? I'd also like to know how .m3f files work but I could not find any tutorials about plugging your own forumulas in to mandelbulb 3d.

own formulas is kinda hard, they are pure executable assembler snippets, the thing above is one of the cool things
of mandelbulber, just select the text from Mandelbulb3Dv17{ (inclusive) to } and in the open tab of mb3d is a button
load from clipboard

basically when using the hybrid forms correctly you can build your own formulas

I know how to read machine code. I just need more of a reference as to how m3d works internally.

This is parameter file. To create new formulas, how this works, you should as Jesse or Darkbeam. There even are some discussion were Darkbeam reveals, how he writes formulas by manualy editing compiled machine code of formula. This have something to do with variables.
