I did a google search 'fractals on your DS' and found a homebrew program, thats fun to play with at least!

That's pretty amazing. Looks like the humble DS has more computing power than I thought.

When I first started playing with Mandelbrot sets back in the mid 1980s, it took 45 minutes to render an 800x600 Mandelbrot set at 256 iterations. That was with a floating point coprocessor no less.

I wonder how you install homebrew apps onto a DS?

Well we have DS linker which is like a cartridge that plugs into the GBA port(it has a port that allows you to play Game Boy Advance games)
The card has a Mini USB socket on it. Plug into PC,initiate transfer mode and just drag and drop. Its a pretty awesome macine for its size. I also have a Korg analog synth for it with 3 oscillators. 
Re the fractal program,it says on their site that they hope to have a version that allows you to save the images you create with it.
