I've been on a real kaleidoscope kick lately.

Here are a couple more recent creations:

They were both created from Julia set fractals created using FractalWorks, a free, high performance fractal renderer for Macintosh computers.


(This kaleidoscope is based on the image Blue & yellow Julia DE)


(This kaleidoscope is based on the image Striking Julia 3D)

I love these. Symmetry is always a nifty way of getting a nice pattern.

The above two look like the entrances to heaven and hell respectively wink

Nice work! The embossed effect on the blue one works really well with that image.

Thanks for the kind words. The embossed look isn't an effect though. These are real 3D shapes, lit with directional lighting. The embossed look is an effect of the directional lighting. If you move the light around, the shadows shift.

I wish you had access to a Mac. It's quite dramatic to rotate and pan the 3D fractals on-screen and watch the lighting and perspective change.
