Looks great, good work Kali!

With some dust particles and a spotlight like from a deepsea robot you might be able to cheat some news channels  wink

Thanks Jesse! and that would be nice, difficult to me, but I guess eiffie could do it very well...

I'm trying to finish the script today, here's a quick test for an assymmetrical shape:

I guess is some kind of seahorse, but not as cute as the original ones, don't you think?  grin

can fragmentarium do scripted animations !??
e.g. accessing a time value !?

Thanks to all for the comments!

As you can see, yes it does grin - And it's indeed thanks to a variable called "time", not other tools provided for coding the animation so it's not easy.

Script is almost done... added some more complex movement capabillities and shape modelling options...  the distortions can sometimes lead to undesired results/glitches, but they can be easily avoided. I have to make some more adjustments, though, and also add adjustable swimming translation parameters.

This was created with the current version of the script, using the sliders to adjust the parameters:

Thanks Christian!

I'll upload this and some more to Youtube later today or tomorrow, or if you want the flash urls:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/2b8dz6n3tx3te3i/seahorse.swf
https://www.dropbox.com/s/izwra0xo6kmjpf2/deepsea7.swf
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ntgcuq45xz7v845/deepsea4_001.swf

Also I'm finished the first release version of the script, now I have to make a readme.txt to explain all the options because there are so many  grin

i follow this thread, since you brought it to life, but i needed some time, to find words for my excitement.
i've seen several fractal animations. most of them take their livelyhood from a stiff movement packed in a spline interpolation, but this one is different. it really looks like muscles underneath the skin produce the movement, althought it uses most likely the mentioned splines. difficult to imagine, that this is a math wonder...

Thanks trumanbrown & taurus, I really appreciate your comments

Basically I'm using sin and cos functions for altering the rotation vector of the iterated formula, but I must do a fine-tuning adjust of parameters to make the movements look right, and to mantain a coherent shape (although some crazy shape-shifting can be interesting too).

I'm about to write the documentation and then I'll post the Fragmentarium script.

Hi, I uploaded the script to the downloads section: http://www.fractalforums.com/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=42

For the next version, I'm working in the combination of two or more fractals not only to model the "creature", but for it's enviroment.

This is a test using a DE combination of two fractals:

Any idea why this is?
