A Supernova Mandelbrot zoom. Here the b parameter has been varied away from zero, enough so that the attractor formerly known as zero has moved, trifurcated, and eventually become unstable. The basin forming the "lakes" in the centers of seahorses has thus pinched into chains of islands connected in threes and then disintegrated entirely, leaving spirally high-iteration zones in the form of triple-scepter-valley Julia fluff.

Yes, the yellowish "angel" forms used to be the lakes.
