Lake VostokЪ

In Antarctic, under 2 km of ice there lies freshwater lake Vostok roughly the size of lake Ontario. The lake were isolated from rest of the world for millions of years, and in it's depts water should be 10 C hot, but it would have extreme pressure and oxigen content.

NASA thinks, underice lake like that could exist on Jupiter moon IO, the most probable place of extraterrestrial life, and that ice digging techniques could be aprobed there.


There clearly should be living some unknown bacterias. I saw on russian TV, that they dug out some fish scale, and that water of lake are filled with gold iones, who alsou covered the scale. So they called it golden fish (granting wishes in russian fairytales). But I saw it in 1. of april, what don't makes it very trustworthy, but then they continiued with typical russian paranoia about foreign forces, what made it look not like joke;)
