Hi Krzysztof (and other developers/contributors)

This is more a question to ask if some features are easy (or not) to implement in future versions of Mandelbulber, and whether you think they
are worth implementing ?
Although i think the software is already fantastic, and as it is currently provided free i somewhat feel a bit cheeky suggesting
improvements (for want of a better word). Many thanks again for providing this program with which i get many many many many hours of enjoyment from.

1- would it be easy implement some kind of camera memory spots ? Just a couple of store/recall buttons that store 2
more locations in the fractal other than the saved file position (Say, Location 2, Location 3). I was thinking along the lines of exploring the fractal after editing and being able to store more than one shot. The memory spots need only store the viewpoint, rotations, zoom, FOV and camera type.
Does anybody else think this is a good idea ?

2- Are the random pallettes based on Red, yellow, green, cyan, blue, magenta ? If so would it be possible to have some boxes where we
could tick/untick any of these hues ? The reason i ask is that i often only want to have certain hues in my random pallettes, this would make it easier to quickly find colour combinations that i want (it can take a long time to find sometimes). I know that i can use JPEGs too (and often do) but i often find that i do not have JPEGs with the right colour pallettes either. Its just an idea i thought might be worth considering, what do you think ?

3- This is probably impossible without major re-work - Could the spheres, boxes and water primitives have separate raytraced reflectons ? I think it would be nice if they could have reflections on, while the fractal surfaces reflections is be switched off.

Speak soon, Enjoy.

Kind regards. Shaun.

hi Ectoplaz! nice to meet another mandelbulber user here at ff. our minority needs definitely more voices  wink

i'm not involved in development of mandelbulber (i'm simply not able), but as an expierienced user i might have some solutions, that work today:

1- a fiiddleing workaround for this issue is the use of a text editor (i highly recommend not to use the windows editor - notepad++ works fine for that). as fract files are stored in tracable clear language, you can copy / paste camera positions / angles (or any other parameter) between fract files. i use a "file mixer" folder to store all needed semifinished parameters. i use this frequently after placing positional lights out of direct sight (mostly with volumetric lighting). with a bit of routine it's a quick thing.

2- the best solution for now are image editors. under http://www.miqel.com/presets_mandelbulber.zip (posted at http://www.fractalforums.com/mandelbulber/mandelbulber-29-presets-28-gradients-zip/msg26216/#msg26216) you find a bunch of high quality jpegs with preset palettes. in combination with color manipulation within gimp or every other image editor, you can get almost every palette you want.

3- i have no solution, but it's on my wishlist too!

hope you found something useful.

regards

Easy work around for #1 is just store a keyframe for something you like, then play around, then to go back, just double click on that keyframe to load it back up to the spot you were in. You can delete the keyframe later from the timeline.

GPU rendering + network rendering would be nice smiley

(Eon Vue has a very nice network renderer called "rendercow" I love that.)
