Thanks! The width of this one is about 10-42. Not quite "enormous", but there are ones in the works that are much deeper. Have you seen the "forks" video submitted to last spring's contest? The final frame of that one had a side length of around 1.4x10-90. As for the colors, the "multiwave" method I developed gives contrast to details of every scale, and for zoom sequences can produce a pleasing variation as the sequence progresses, instead of simply repeating itself. In this case, though, it mostly does repeat -- but is complex enough that the parts that map onto particular features of the fractal shift with depth. At an earlier point, for instance, the triple spiral whirls were getting the dark part of the pattern, but here they're getting the violet part. |
