Title: Custom formulas & transforms - Release Post by: DarkBeam on February 07, 2011, 01:03:02 PM Older posts here; http://www.fractalforums.com/index.php?topic=5656.msg27691#msg27691
IMPORTANT. HOW TO USE TRANSFORMS AS PRE-TRANSFORMS Jesse revealed me this trick that I didn't know. It is really really useful if you like to use transformations as pre-transformations. It is fundamental. Why? For example, the inversion of an inversion returns tre undeformed pixel ... So you will never want to do inversions more than once. :D Apply the same Mobius transform twice will give another Mobius transform, but it is unwanted! This will cause a slowdown of the computation for nothing. (Note that I said "the same". Mobius conditional transforms are a completely different thing ;) ) The same applies for every possible coordinate transform (except for coord - scaling- inverse coord sequence that can give interesting effects, a "particular case"). In this mode you can do (for example) a Mobius transformation only once. This will reduce a lot the DE disturbing effect, keeping the deformation effect at 100% of its strength. It is easy as drink water. Put the transform, or all the sequence of wanted transforms, at FIRST. Then put every formula that you like, after all the transforms. Now, go to the first formula (for example it's in tab named "Fo.2"). Check "Repeat from here". This allows you to calculate every IFS or Julia fractal in transformed coordinate mode. To do the same with Mset fractals, you need a complete coordinate inversion. For now only "SphereInvC" is a complete coordinate inversion. Expect more soon. :D Example of a Julia set deformed by a loxodromic Mobius transform Mandelbulb3Dv16{ M.....S....O/...w....2....kh.mHjS7KxzarR6dqU6N1EBs.wGK6qNzvdV3MZ2r3szidJ63iGubyD ................................2akZSXdnxz1........A./..................y.2..... ................/ME//....6.e3...91....E2.....2qXM9bwBCqD/..........c./...w1/BnAH y.EnAnYD..../2UaNaNaNaNmzAnAnAnAnAyD..................................sD...../.. .wHnAnYDw38Bl7TXXx13sfny1v64vuO4f.nr2.djiDF.DthDuq9TVGHQmrsMzkU2Hvmr2.djXNloiwB/ EunZHg0ATH.YyQtgEyawBCqD......Yv......................sD.2kz0................... .............................UJRR4.wppN.6OLb/.mRR4.irpN.EVLb/UCSR4.............. ...........................U..6.P....M4...EB....W....61....F....8/...I1....UJl12 ...U.iVFwxDE./ozPM2Tzz7lz16.mc..zXCc.El18XGQeGyDjvIRhrVAkz1............28.kFrA0. (nobody will use it but who cares? :evil1: Merry xmas :-* ) 24.1 Corrected a mistake in coding IQ-bulb, so it looks much more consistent with the "original", :D kept the old one but renamed 24.2 General; generalization and unification of all (or almost all) the possible bulb funcs in just one formula. Phew! This was NOT not easy but wow, a bunch of crazy things are possible now!!! 24.25 General; Adjusted, because 'recipe 2' did not take into account 'zmul' :embarrass: 24.28 Added to my collection _QuadrayTransform2.m3f - Jesse forgot to include it in latest release and it just disappeared from the whole internet so here it is now! :dink: Thanks to Lenord for giving it back! ( I lost it too! :sad1: ) 24.3 _QuadrayTransform2 + added Scale for negative Quadray coords 24.4 MandelView (Thanks David Makin) 24.5 _GenCWarp (Thanks Aexion, Jesse and ... basically everybody ;D ) 24.6 _GenCWarp Added two controls to adjust the strength of the effect and/or mix C with xyz. :dink: 24.7 Quintic a wiki-fractal :o ^-^ and a half-octahedron, hacky KIFS formula 24.8 Makin3D collection (1 to 4) now you can explore even more Makin stuff with your fave renderer :dink: 24.85 Makin-NSR-tri added (by the master's request :beer: ) 24.9 BulboxP-2 added. This formula has a strange behavior, but in some condition can be so fun! Too bad needs a very low raystep/stepwidth to work good. :'( 25.0 GenCWarp fixed a bug: now value 0 for Theta-Args is correctly handled. (No more glitches. You will still see glitches if you try to choose a value out of range, and it will not be fixed btw :police:) _DEComb_ISph_Plane added 25.1 OctKoch added (uncertain about something. but it's flexible so I added btw) :o ;D 25.2 DodecahedronIFS (one of the basic Sierpinski solids, it was missing for some reason) added :beer: Changed default scale to 2.63 - some details look way better 25.3 Faster version by Blob added (hack from Jesse's Icosa) 25.4 ManowarBulb added :beer: - requires SSE2 but it only uses the register for storing, it's a bit slow because it does a float exponentiation btw 25.5 GnarlyIFS added :beer: - requires SSE2 too because it's derived from waveIFS... 25.6 DucksIFS added :beer: - requires SSE2 too because it's derived from waveIFS... And it's very slow, because it needs many iterations and a complicated magnitude evaluation to show up a good detail level. 25.7 Some useless stuff added... Sorry... :) Another Beth thingy and a variant of quat 25.8 Amazing Surf added. (by Kali) implemented by me of course :tongue1: 25.9 Torus and Knots added. (Both for dIFS) :D Hard enough to do those! 26.0 (Both for dIFS) Torus updated with aspect ratio. More funny shapes; TorusEllip + Pyram 26.1 (Both for dIFS) PolyPyra added (flexible shape, can be used for many solids) 26.2 (Both for dIFS) PolyPyra - added Star slider! Perfect for Christmas scenes :angel1: :angel1: :angel1: 26.3 (for dIFS) PolyFoldIFS added! 26.4 (for dIFS) PolyFoldExIFS added! (Has a 3D z-fold included - it's slower but more powerful) 26.5 (for dIFS) AmazingIFS added! (be careful, use few iters or your computer will melt :D ) 26.6 Knots2 added. Ported from Knighty's formula! Many more figures are possible ;D :surf: 26.7 KleinBotT added. Another Klein bottle too added... :D :dink: 26.8 Added misc surfaces, some so funny... DecoCube,QCyl,Umbrella,Quadrics 26.9 Added misc surfaces, some so funny... Scarab, Piriform, RiemSqrt plus patched/improved existing ones 27.0 Added a new transform foldingoctIFS 27.1 Added a new transform cayley2IFS 27.2 Added new transforms, and FoldingInfy (continuous eqv. of tiling) plus the most irritating shape ever; Pen-Ngon :hmh: 27.3 Comma shape + added an useful option to Quadrics 27.4 foldcut shapes added, based on amazing Knighty scripts :worm: plus some sphere playaround :dink: Fixed Comma because it did not worked well... Don't know why. But ok ::) 27.5 Added a test version of Apollo 3D 27.6 Added sliceIFS :D 27.7 Improved sliceIFS + added sliceExIFS + loxodromeIFS :worm: 27.8 Latest version of all my formulas + extras ;D ... see the file 27.9 Added more misc isosurfaces. Citrus, Mitre, Cayley surface, Pseudosphere, Dini. The last two are my favourite, too bad Dini is very slow btw :-\ 28.0 Removed Citrus for now (it is very buggy... I will replace it with a similar thingy) but added Devil (devil = :fiery: ) ;D and bugfixed Mitre (produced some unwanted "spaghetti" on high iters :angry: now they are a lot thinner so they will not disturb ;) ) 28.1 Added some surfaces. But they cause bugs on high iters; Limpet DecoCube fixed, plus some bonus wavesp, weirdcube, toupie (it seems to work on higher iters) 28.2 Fixed some DEs and added again that Citrus :yes: 28.3 Added boardIFS (for chess estimators :D ) and SchwartzIFS surfaces 28.4 Added YinYangIFS + Loxodrome2IFS :D 28.5 Updated with some stuff ... :D 28.6 Added trans-qIFS :D 28.7 Made ex versions of 4D ifs like Menger, Sierpinski and MixPinski :D 28.8 Made _Translate + _Rotate "random" transforms :D 28.9 ... until 29.0 _Rotate "random" transform "fixed" - now works really as expected also with ABox. Increased max range to +-2 29.1 Tried to add a MinR thingy to AmazingIFS, don't know if it's the real thing forgive me :embarrass: 29.2 Fixed - now works as expected :beer: 29.3 _asdamTrans added :beer: 29.4 _CondLyapunov added :beer: 29.5 A full set of itercount modifiers added. They are of two kinds. Lyapunov type; The itercount of the formulas is modified following a binary string rule. The itercount will be set 0 / 1 in simple Lyapunov switch or to two different values in the general Lyapunov. Generic switch; More advanced. The itercount will be set to three different values according to a critical iteration value. This can give very unique fractal shapes. It is not easy to explain here... But believe me :police: 3 formulas added :beer: 29.6 Fixed _sphereinv for the n-th time again to avoid navi issues :embarrass: 30.0 Extra formula; ABoxMod2! :police: 29.7 Fixed _sphereinv for the n-th time again... Sick and tired. But this was a minor issue btw. 29.8 ducksIFS added angle option, very reccomended to play with that setting :D Added also missing COLOR option 29.9 Added a new HeightMap and updated other stuff O0 30.0 GnarlyIFS added color option, and 2 more gnarlyIFS!!! :D 30.1 GnarlyIFS minor bugfixes, + added more formulas like a standalone dodeca-folding. That Jesse never did for some reason? :dink: 30.2 SierpinskiFull ; full tetrahedral symmetry Sierpinski. Jesse's was not fully symmetrical. :) In fact this works more like normal KIFS like Menger3 and Icosahedron. 30.3 SierpinskiFull added SierpHilbert style edges; disabled by default. 30.4 Reciprocal x,y,z 3 added - continuous functions so they work a lot better without DE trouble 30.5 BUGFIX ATTEMPT on RotateRnd, TranslateRnd! Now they seem to work 30.6 Added GearIfs 30.7 ABoxMod1 DEfix! 30.8 room DIFS good for color fooling ;D 30.9 Added Gear2Ifs inspired from Incendia :dink: 31.0 Added DiscoBallIfs - faceted empty sphere! 31.1 Added SphCageIfs "sphere made of rings" ;D 31.2 Update & optimization for SphCageIfs 31.3 and .4 Added cubetubeIfs + UPDATED 31.5 Added tube versions of all platonic solids; Cube, Tetrahedron, Icosahedron. :horsie: 31.6 Replaced Icosa default param to plot a dodecahedron not a truncated solid :tongue1: 31.7 Added columnsIFS :D 31.8 Added options for style in columnsIFS :D 31.81 More fix in columnsIFS (to allow more styles) 31.9 Homemade optimization, applied to all gnarly and to ducks IFS to get a 5x speedup! 32.0 Added a component to optimization to get a perfect result. :beer: 32.1 HeightMap2 now gets a "perfect" DE. 32.2 RoomDoorsIFS added after 3 days of work 32.3 ABoxPlatinum added. Loads of features. 32.4 ABoxPlatinum - a little 'bug' in rotatable folds was fixed, but left also the old version. :beer: 33.0 After a long pause! :dink: Reciprocal x,y,z 3b added - more customizable recips 33.1 Cantor, Octafull added 33.2 koch_oct added 33.3 Menger1-IFS added (Menger transform just for DIFS!) 33.4 JCube3 - approximation made by Knighty. It is an APPROXIMATION so take it as is. :) Just don't pretend flawless details Added also _YplusSinZ2 33.5 _invcylindrical optimized - speedup :dink: 33.6 I spotted a fantastic hex-grid formula and added it http://k3dsurf.s4.bizhat.com/k3dsurf-ftopic133-0-asc-30.html hextgridIFS 33.6 hextgrid2IFS - more classic tubey work. ^-^ formula by abdelhamid... 33.7 JCube3 added Gscale (test parameter) 33.8 totoricalIFS added ... Interesting to wrap difs on torus or something. :dink: 33.9 tritgridIFS - lame but coolish modding of hextgtid (more to come!) 34.0 New year 2013 special! A fistful of variations of tri&hextgrid added! :drink: 34.1 More hexagonal madness! 34.2 Improved a lot hextgrid3IFS & hexgridIFS following Knighty's concepts and scripts, now they have a lot of added functionality and possibilities for new shapes :beer: Title: Re: Custom formulas & transforms - Release Post by: DarkBeam on February 07, 2011, 01:03:28 PM ... Title: Re: Custom formulas & transforms - Release Post by: skyzyk on January 27, 2012, 04:21:12 AM Luca, shouldn't that be version 26.7? The last should have been 26.5 but you wrote 25.6. Or is it me that's confused?
Title: Re: Custom formulas & transforms - Release Post by: LeonieZed on January 27, 2012, 04:27:48 AM :D Fantastic new possibilities Luca!!! Thanks so much for all of this - and you too Jesse! :D :beer:

Gary; Did not understood what you said, numbers are not correct? :hmh: Title: Re: Custom formulas & transforms - Release Post by: Erisian on January 27, 2012, 11:01:31 PM Thanks for all your hard work. I'm looking forward to getting these home and playing with them! (One of these nights, I might get some sleep!)
Title: Re: Custom formulas & transforms - Release Post by: skyzyk on January 29, 2012, 04:21:14 PM Luca the numbers went from 26.5 to 25.6. That is where the numbers are not correct. I am talking about the version numbers. It doesn't really make a difference to me because what's inside is the most important. I just thought you would like to know. I hope you understand me better. Ciao bello.
PolyFoldExIFS added! (Has a 3D z-fold included - it's slower but more powerful) 26.5 (for dIFS) AmazingIFS added! (be careful, use few iters or your computer will melt cheesy ) 25.6 Knots2 added. Ported from Knighty's formula! Many more figures are possible grin surfing 25.7 KleinBotT added. Another Klein bottle too added... cheesy wink 25.8 Added misc surfaces, some so funny... DecoCube,QCyl,Umbrella,Quadrics Title: Re: Custom formulas & transforms - Release Post by: DarkBeam on January 29, 2012, 04:26:56 PM Oh finally got it! Thanks :-*

Just tried to d/l 'new fmls.zip', and got 'you are not allowed to access this section'!! Wass goin' on Luca?? :'( Do not know try again (the server may have some weak moments? :-\ ) ericr; I perfectly know this. Mobius transforms in 2D are very complicated. In 3D are far too much for me for now so nope! :hmh: :death: Title: Re: Custom formulas & transforms - Release Post by: ericr on February 18, 2012, 06:11:57 PM Thank you for your work
No but why there are no formulas to + - * / please thank you ericr Title: Re: Custom formulas & transforms - Release Post by: DarkBeam on February 18, 2012, 06:30:16 PM Do you mean; intersection and stuff?
Yes, I think it is actually possible (at least intersection is very interesting and possible). Probably in the future (for simple shapes + slices)? :dink: :beer: Title: Re: Custom formulas & transforms - Release Post by: ericr on February 18, 2012, 06:32:17 PM i mean 1st formula z*z+1 / 2nd z+1 for exemple

Thank you again and thank you for being with us for new formulas ERICR Title: Re: Custom formulas & transforms - Release Post by: DarkBeam on March 18, 2012, 11:12:36 AM Now finally AmazingIFS has MinR setting, only you have to use 1/minr instead of plain minr ;D
Title: Re: Custom formulas & transforms - Release Post by: ericr on March 23, 2012, 02:58:29 PM I have send a private message but it did not work
So that is the question how work MobiusTpx if you wound what are good parameters for a suitable result on the net It is nothing at all in 3D only in 3D Thank you in advance and thank you for all ERICR Title: Re: Custom formulas & transforms - Release Post by: DarkBeam on March 25, 2012, 10:53:36 AM Mobius transform is;
z' = (a z + b) / (c z + d) It depends on what you want to do, try various values remembering that results are very odd and iterating it leads to nothing most of the time! ::) Normally it's good to have cabs(a) = cabs(b) = cabs(c) = cabs(d) = 1 (no zooms) Examples a = 1, b=1, c=(0,1,0), d=1 a = 1, b=1, c=(0,0,1), d=1 a = -1, b=(0,1,0), c=(sqrt(2),sqrt(2),0), d=1 ... etc ... :evil1: Title: Re: Custom formulas & transforms - Release Post by: ericr on March 25, 2012, 11:21:18 AM I think I have found a way to Mobius IT CAN BE USED to make fractals like Indra's Pearls with symmetric matrices coefcients to see examples

Title: Re: Custom formulas & transforms - Release Post by: DarkBeam on March 25, 2012, 11:45:42 AM You are not using formulas correctly; Mobius can not be used alone, and does not affect difs!
Title: Re: Custom formulas & transforms - Release Post by: ericr on March 25, 2012, 12:39:34 PM ok so it would take a mobius transformation of "special" for DIFS
but if what I did wrong so why is it changes forms based on parameterized I try and fractal change shape? Title: Re: Custom formulas & transforms - Release Post by: DarkBeam on March 25, 2012, 12:48:00 PM I already answered, read again my prev post. ^-^

An unconditional mobius transform alone is simply not enough. That's it!
Title: Re: Custom formulas & transforms - Release Post by: ericr on March 27, 2012, 11:10:56 AM now a use loxodromic-ifs cayley2-ifs and its ok
but how can i found : hyperbolic-ifs parabolic-ifs elliptic-ifs tank you ericr Title: Re: Custom formulas & transforms - Release Post by: PhotoComix on April 01, 2012, 03:40:39 PM There is something i really don't understand about all the "custom formulas":
why they have exactly the same name and file size of the formula already included ? So are the same of what already included or not ?? and if not why use the identical names ? I compare the unzipped new fmlas.zip folder to my existing MB3D formula folder. I hope this can be useful to others. Update: I would no longer recommend FreeFileSync beyond version 6.2 due to a bug in later versions and reports of bundled unwanted software in the download from sourceforge. Just updating, try again in a minute. :beer: Title: Re: Custom formulas & transforms - Release Post by: MarkJayBee on September 30, 2012, 12:42:20 PM Hi Luca, Just a wee request; I've found your 'SphereHeightMapIFS' formula very useful
in creating apparently complex and 'techie' looking objects. I wonder how much work would be involved in producing other heightmapped dIFS? Cube, Cylinder, Torus etc would be great, especially if Jesse implements the extra slot/s for dIFS in DEcombinate in some future release. :yes: As ever, I live in hope!! :dink: Title: Re: Custom formulas & transforms - Release Post by: Jesse on October 02, 2012, 03:13:41 PM It is not very complicated, though even for me much time consuming...
made a cylinder heightmap formula! Luca seems to be long time absent, hope he is doing fine! Greets, j ps: put the formula in there so it is visible for everyone: http://www.fractalforums.com/index.php?topic=6061.0 Title: Re: Custom formulas & transforms - Release Post by: MarkJayBee on October 02, 2012, 03:55:40 PM Wonderful - my thanks Jesse! :beer: :beer: :beer: Think I may have a use for this already....:yes:
Yeah, haven't heard from Luca for a wee while now as you say, hope he's ok. :confused: Title: Re: Custom formulas & transforms - Release Post by: DarkBeam on October 08, 2012, 10:20:02 AM I am okay, just taking a break from fractal and assembly sicko stuff. ;D
Hi all guyz :beer: :beer: :beer: Title: Re: Custom formulas & transforms - Release Post by: Alef on October 14, 2012, 04:31:16 PM Realy writing a formula is pretty hard and time consuming thing. Even if there are built in compiller like in UF and used formula are short, if you want your formula would be good one, you 'll have to code it and then test, and then rewrite the code and then test, and then modifie so that default settings would have stable good result and then write some hints. And here alsou one should not only to compile, but alsou to hack the code. And here are pretty many formulas. In UF there alsou are many formulas, but most of them are trash, say I realised that there arn't so many good implementations of kaliset;)
One of the most fun feature of M3D is hybridisation, and without content, you woun't have much to hybridise;) Realy great job is done :beer: Title: Re: Custom formulas & transforms - Release Post by: Alef on October 30, 2012, 04:10:04 PM AboxPlatinium have everything. Could be that you alredy noticed (or that alredy are somewhere), but you can parameterise boxfold lenght. If lenght is some 0.1 it getts enought differen to be interesting. I found this in M Benessi version of mandelbox. Just to notice;)
if (zx > check) { zx=Fold - zx; } else if (zx < -check) { zx=-Fold-zx; } Throught anyway, this is very simple, maybe this alredy are in some of many abox formulas :hurt: Title: Re: Custom formulas & transforms - Release Post by: stick on October 30, 2012, 07:01:45 PM Thank you for the new formulas, they will keep me busy.

CrossBiFold is in Mandelbulb3Dv182.zip (http://www.fractalforums.com/index.php?action=downloads;sa=downfile&id=43) Latest "new fmlas.zip" has 117 formulas/transforms compared to 348 in the Mandelbulb3Dv182 M3Formulas folder. Go here http://www.fractalforums.com/mandelbulb-3d/re-custom-formulas-and-transforms-release-t9810/60/ Download the "New Formulas" zip at the bottom of the page, it's in there, it should be in v1.8.8.1 too Title: Re: Custom formulas & transforms - Release Post by: Daeurth on April 04, 2013, 01:58:34 AM Is there any possibility of an IFS version of JCube3?
Title: Re: Custom formulas & transforms - Release Post by: SpiralVortex on May 15, 2013, 06:39:59 AM oddly it says some of the items are missing, but I wonder if i forgot to set the initial directories right. *goes to look*
Title: Re: Custom formulas & transforms - Release Post by: DarkBeam on September 11, 2013, 12:11:36 PM Is there any possibility of an IFS version of JCube3? Ehh... It's of course possible rewriting it from scratch. To much time ;D |
