Title: Import to Minecraft Post by: Theli on December 20, 2011, 03:55:01 PM I figured out a way to export fractals from Mandelbulb 3D to the game Minecraft.
1. Export using Voxelstack. Mind the Z-slices. Minecraft has a maximum (unmodded) height of 128 levels, so you will only be able to use 128 slices. You can always render more than 128 and remove slices afterwards. 2. Use a program like XnView to invert all the slices, and rename them "Layer#", where # is the slice number. 3. Start a new map in "Omen". Make sure it has the correct Height and Width. Set Depth to 128. http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/73-omen-v070-minecraft-map-editor/ (http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/73-omen-v070-minecraft-map-editor/) 4. Import the layers into "Omen". Make sure they are in the same folder as the program. 5. Save as .mclevel. 6. Import into MCedit. http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/13807-mcedit-minecraft-world-editor-compatible-with-mc-beta-18/ (http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/13807-mcedit-minecraft-world-editor-compatible-with-mc-beta-18/) (http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2011/354/6/1/mandelbulb_to_minecraft_test_by_theli_at-d4jnhtf.png) http://theli-at.deviantart.com/#/d4jnhtf (http://theli-at.deviantart.com/#/d4jnhtf) (http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2011/354/c/3/mandelbulb_to_minecraft_test_2_by_theli_at-d4jnjrm.png) http://theli-at.deviantart.com/#/d4jnjrm (http://theli-at.deviantart.com/#/d4jnjrm) (http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2011/354/6/7/mandelbulb_to_minecraft_test_3_by_theli_at-d4jnl8j.png) http://theli-at.deviantart.com/#/d4jnl8j (http://theli-at.deviantart.com/#/d4jnl8j) Title: Re: Import to Minecraft Post by: DarkBeam on December 20, 2011, 05:44:23 PM Thanks for sharing Mr. Genius! :dink:
Title: Re: Import to Minecraft Post by: Theli on December 20, 2011, 09:22:04 PM Just made a couple more. A mandelbox like thing (on top), and an "Amazing Box" (on the bottom).

Title: Re: Import to Minecraft Post by: kram1032 on December 21, 2011, 07:15:16 PM hah.
Now if you extend it to change the materials per colour... Title: Re: Import to Minecraft Post by: Theli on December 22, 2011, 01:07:36 PM hah. It would be easy to do if the voxelstack function included the colors on export. I think Omen picks materials based on the color used in the bitmaps. I have to color it by hand afterwards. Now if you extend it to change the materials per colour... Title: Re: Import to Minecraft Post by: ker2x on December 22, 2011, 03:00:38 PM wouaaa :)

Title: Re: Import to Minecraft Post by: THEMAN1138 on January 27, 2012, 02:43:05 AM it doesnt have voxelstack in utilities tab... am i outdated? or is that windows only? im a diehard mac...
Title: Re: Import to Minecraft Post by: bib on January 27, 2012, 09:56:05 AM it doesnt have voxelstack in utilities tab... am i outdated? or is that windows only? im a diehard mac... Yes, you probably have to download the latest version Title: Re: Import to Minecraft Post by: THEMAN1138 on January 27, 2012, 01:06:24 PM Just found out there's no Mac version for the update. Thanks a lot though, that explains it.
Title: Re: Import to Minecraft Post by: visual.bermarte on January 27, 2012, 02:38:01 PM Just go with the mouse over mandelbulb 3d app and select 'Show package contents' using right button, then browse 'drive_c' folder and open 'Programs Files'.
Can you see 'Mandelbulb 3D' folder? Now just download latest Mandelbulb 3d for windows and REPLACE the 'Mandelbulb3D' folder (with all the contents; .exe file and various folders) with the new one. Close the folder 'mandelbulb 3D'. Open mandelbulb 3d as usual. BTW the wrapper works really well and minecraft's experiments are really nice! :) Title: Re: Import to Minecraft Post by: THEMAN1138 on January 28, 2012, 12:15:26 AM thanks for that, the folder thing worked, im trying to import now

sorry i got back late, but i got it to work. looks pretty sweet in my hd texture pack. does anyone know if it is possible to import all the slices instead of having to import them into omen one by one? Title: Re: Import to Minecraft Post by: JodyVL on December 27, 2012, 08:19:31 PM Hey guys...
I'm back again after my PC died on me, and then I got so much into Minecraft that I let all my other interests slide backwards! Anyway, back, and just having a problem with one part here... "invert using XnView" I've got XnView, managed to rename all the files... But invert them... how? Title: Re: Import to Minecraft Post by: JodyVL on December 27, 2012, 09:05:34 PM Annoying! I figured out to invert the image was to invert the black and white ( :embarrass: )
But now, no matter how I name the pngs or where I put them (supposed to be in the same directory as Omen, right?) Omen doesn't load them. It gives the error "Skipped layer xxx - could not find image." And there's no ways I'm importing one layer at a time. :fiery: Title: Re: Import to Minecraft Post by: JodyVL on December 28, 2012, 05:09:27 AM YES, ok, figured out my above issue with the importing of the pngs. Hope this helps someone (besides me and THEMAN1138, hehe): You need to tick off the Leading Zero thingy when making the pngs with the Voxelstock tool in M3D .. The files have to have the format "layer1.png", "layer2.png", "layer3.png" etc, (NOT 001, 002, 003...) And yes, as the original poster says, they must be in the same directory as the Omen jar/bat files. :ok: |
