Title: HPDZ Animation Site
Post by: JackOfTraDeZ on April 22, 2008, 06:19:37 AM
I don't usually like to advertise for my "competition", but here is a new site with cool and unique animations and lotsa technical info for those so interested:

http://www.hpdz.net/index.htm

I have been in communication with the author and we may collaborate on animations if we can get the code to match...

Yes, this website is awesome
but I have to ask, does he have a second computer to do other things while he is rendering the animations
I saw that one of the animations took 63 hours DANG!!! that's slow!

63 hours? some of my IMAGES take that long. Most animations take MONTHS! I WISH I could do a good one in 63 hours! shheeeesh!

same for me, when starting the rendering the time estimation is quite good, but when comming to the deeper iterations it sucks a lot time :D

I once did a still render of "Aquamarine" http://website.lineone.net/~dave_makin/fractal_art_5.html (http://website.lineone.net/~dave_makin/fractal_art_5.html) at 8000*5000 in Ultrafractal as a disk render with oversampling set at 3*3 and it took a month :)

hey dave - can you get me a PAR file for that awesome aquamarine image? I will try to do an animation, it will be like (better than) my "cathedral of chaos" one I think

if i can get it to run with fractint

Well I don't really wanna give away the full parameter set for Aquamarine, but here's the base layer - just try some different colourings out :)
The details of the original are given briefly here:

This is my first post here. Thanks to JackOfTraDeZ for the recommendation. And thanks to everyone for the kind words.

A few quick responses:
1. I do indeed have a second system to run animations. It's a quad-core Core2, 2.4GHz.
2. I agree 63 hours is pretty short. I've done one that's about 2 weeks, and gearing up for another one soon. I really admire those who can go for months-years!

I have added a new animation today....please check it out!
