Title: Projecting Fractal Surface on Cyclinder
Post by: anopheles on November 10, 2011, 03:06:45 AM
Hi there,

my first post here. I'm currently investigation the capabilities of fractals. Is there a easy way to project a fractal surface onto another one? For example I want the cyclinder defines as:
Code:
float DE(vec3 p) {return sqrt(p.y*p.y + p.z*p.z) - offset;};
to exhibit fractal properties.

If found I way to make my cylinder more funky, but not really fractal :P just add some noise to the offset:
Code:
float DE(vec3 p) {return sqrt(p.y*p.y + p.z*p.z)-offset-noise_factor*cnoise(p);};

Later on I want to be able to project different kinds of fractals onto different surfaces. Is there an easy way to achieve this?

Greetings,
anopheles

Aexion used many spherical projections for his Incendia formulas; also msltoe knows this alchemy :D but it comes to forums rarely

Good luck :dink:
