Title: yFract 1.0.6 released Post by: yv3 on October 23, 2011, 11:11:28 PM A new Version (1.0.6) of yFract (http://yv3.bplaced.net/forum/index.php?topic=53.0) has been uploaded!!! Now its possible to combine any fractal with a "Overlay Image" (press F9 in Explore Mode). Once selected this image not just overlays the fractal, it changes the calculation in the current fractal formula in a secret way ;). Check it out, its very intresting. A simple image changes the Fractal in a drastic way. The normal Mandelbrot Fractal looks like this: (http://yv3.bplaced.net/forum/Misc/Overlay_Images_1.png) Now you choose that following image as the "overlay image" for instance: (http://yv3.bplaced.net/forum/Misc/Circuits.jpg) the result looks like this: (http://yv3.bplaced.net/forum/Misc/Overlay_Images_2.png) Press or hold the G/H-Key to Decrease or Increase the Overlay Image Zoom. Press or hold the J/K-Key to Decrease or Increase the Overlay Image Strength. Hold Shift or Ctrl-Key while pressing the above keys to alter the modification strength, as usual. You can load a overlay image by pressing F9. You can then choose from these "calculation methods": (http://yv3.bplaced.net/forum/Misc/Overlay_Images_3.png) The calculation method defines how the image take effect on the fractal formula. This is a technique i found out i was playing around. It gives very intresting results. In the standard installation of yFract you find these overlay images to play around: (http://yv3.bplaced.net/forum/Misc/Overlay_Images_4.png) But you can use any image you have as an overlay image and apply it to one of the 66 fractals. Just copy it into the "Overlay_Image"-Folder in the yFract-Directory or follow the shortcut in your yFract-Folder on your desktop. and here an ode to 2pac, the king of hip hop :) (http://yv3.bplaced.net/gallery/yFract/25956.jpg) RIP Notice the colorful line at the top of the screen?, this is another new funtionality, called palette preview bar. It shows you the current palette colors, category and name, and the color range that the current image uses (small white line below the color bar). I added a nice fadeout effect to it ;) Download newest Version from http://yv3.bplaced.net/files/yFract.exe More information about yFract at http://yv3.bplaced.net/forum/index.php?topic=53.0 Have fun and post your impressions! |
