Title: Giant Fractal Book
Post by: styloid on September 23, 2011, 12:57:00 PM
I’m keen to make a show book of great fracal images

I planning to print a book of 20-30 images with a page size of  up to 1000mmx 1500mm.

Please contact me if you want to included or want to know more.

I would make some space for text so you can say a bit about yourself / images/ contact details / . etc though I guess this would have to be an agreed strucutre

I’m an amatur wide format printer geek interested in Fractals,  and can print very big for a low cost, and do quite long print runs effectively.

I believe that great images need to be printed big and when this is done the results are totally stunning. Even more so with fractals

I offer no money – but you may get a copy (or maybe copies) of the book free. You can choose to sell these or do as you wish.

The exact details are negotiable and I will treat all contributors / partners in the project equally.

The binding would be some form of clever wooden hinged enclosure, which would I hope be gorgeous and stylish. This might involve some routeing / engraving / flat bed printing or streched canvas cover.

I'm not planning to make loads or do any hard sell on it. If you have ideas about marketing it I will be happy to discuss them. Maybe a limited print run of say up 500 might work well.

Im based in the UK, but dont see why the project can't be international.

If it works I would plan to do an edition each year.

Thanks for reading.

You can get hold of me - Im  skype I'm Styloid.

Fractal book – update.

This is a venture into the unkown. There may be money at the end of it but the objective it to make a great looking grand scale book of fractal prints.

I suggest the we go for A0 to start with  30 prints and 4-5 pages (A0) of  text.

Ideally I would like to have 6 artists in the book – so far I’ve had interest from 2 which is fantastic.

I plan that we have weekly skype conference calls to discuss progress where we can discuss refinements and get a feel for how to make the book as gorgeous beautiful as possible..

I’m skill is in printing and making the binding. There will be some need for a graphic designer to create the look of the text and complete the cover.

Please pass on this invitiation to others. We will have a more appealing showcase and more interest in the thing if its got more artists from an internaitional community involved.

Thanks

Hi!

I'm interested in this book you're proposing.

I have several new fractal images located here:

Let me know if you're interested on any of these images.

Sounds very interesting! Don't know how I could miss that post and if the proposal is still valid.
I've been doing several exhibitions and I agree that fractals in large print format are totally different than on screen. If you like my images, I'd be more than happy to participate.

Sounds like an excellent idea for fractal promotion on a - literally! - large scale.
I'm definitely interested in contributing work, have a look at:

Please let me know if you wish to include any of my images?

Hi.

What would be the price of this book ?
A0 seems really giant, that's one meter squared :o
