Is there software available, where you can just put in a formula for the color of a voxel and see the resulting object? I imagine a software that just greets you with a simple text area and a button "go". Now lets say you put in this into the textarea: function color(x,y,z) { if (x*x+y*y+z*z>1) return 0; else return 250; } And hit "go" - it will render a sphere. And then you can try all kinds of formulas and come up with spheres, mandelbulbs and whatever. Is there something like this? I tried Gestaltlupe now. Somehow the renderings look broken on my machine. I read the Evaldraw tutorial and it seems like it would need a lot of work to create 3d fractals in it. At the moment, I think compiling Mandelbulber with my own formulas might be the best way. I managed to compile Mandelbulber from source and it renders really nice images. I just need to know where to put my own formula. Rotation works at interactive frame rates, whereas recomputaton of the volume data may take significant fractions of a second.
