Make it simpler, the content is what counts and it could be good. same applies here; too much blinking and bizarre colourscheme/commentary. make it simpler, the content is what counts and it could be good. Title: Re: Off-beat animations Post by: cKleinhuis on March 14, 2008, 11:36:33 AM the animations are indeed cool, hehe, simple animations, deep zooms and everytime a theme like a story ...
your page is very blinky and due to the many fractals on one single page it is really hard to find something ;) perhaps you should do a litte index, and then linking to the videos (... on the big pages ) ::) Title: Re: Off-beat animations Post by: JackOfTraDeZ on March 14, 2008, 02:02:26 PM what exactly do you mean by "blinky"? 2 comments say that now. there are a couple animated/flashing banners but are you saying the page itself is "blinky"? it looks ok on my systems, maybe i need to tweak the html or something for other browsers?
(i removed my previous post - i should think before typing sometimes - never helps being negative) Title: Re: Off-beat animations Post by: cKleinhuis on March 14, 2008, 02:24:50 PM by blinky i mean that the page consists of very much colors with great contrast, some of the colors are animated, this is a bit annoying and moves away from content, it is for sure pure intent ...
you have to think about how users are using your page, some may scroll down every page and read the headlines, but it is a bit hard to find something, due to the large amount of images with no predefined width/height settings the page jumps forth/backwards all the time when loading this all in all leaves the impression of a "blinky" site ... O0 but dont take it personal, i know how hard it is to display information clear on the internet, just look at my messy sites, fractalmovies.com & prollcoder.com Title: Re: Off-beat animations Post by: lycium on March 14, 2008, 04:13:19 PM Quote from: JackOfTraDeZ what exactly do you mean by "blinky"? well, it looks a bit like a red light district ;)more concretely, if you take away the blackness of night and look at some of those images in the sober "daylight" of this website: (http://www.fractal-animation.net/gif/starz.gif) (http://www.fractal-animation.net/gif/rainbow.gif) (http://www.fractal-animation.net/gif/rainbow.gif) (http://www.fractal-animation.net/gif/rainbow.gif) (http://www.fractal-animation.net/gif/rainbow.gif) (http://www.fractal-animation.net/gif/rainbow.gif) edit: i see the epilepsy-inducing animation is now gone :hmh: anyway as you've retracted your bluntly negative comments about fractalmovies.com (which seems reasonably professional looking?) i shouldn't be too harsh in my analysis here. i just thought that it's somehow inappropriate for the flashing lsd-coloured website to say that the minimal greyscale site is "too flashy"! as trifox said, it is indeed difficult to make a well-presented site, which is why most of my website's content (http://fractographer.com/wip) is just a directory listing ;) ps. i totally love that new O0 smiley!
