Title: 3D Julia sets

I've seen a lot of interesting 3D fractal rendering techniques, but none that satisfied me.
I wanted to make my own, and here is what I have come up with so far.
My program is in its earliest working stage, and this is the first thing I've EVER made in C, so these aren't exactly breath taking xD
This is what I call the "default" set

x/z axis rotation of a small section

This one took about 20 hours to render. 50 frames, each frame containing 500 separate julia sets

Turning these into gif's killed the quality, for example look at this rotation

And here is a single frame

Each of these can be zoomed into infinitely just as any julia set, although all of these are done at the default zoom.
There are an infinite amount of "objects" that can be created with this method, and it is looking as though it may be as detailed as the mandelbrot set.
I really need to rework some things to make rendering faster so I can possibly add lighting and other things to it.
And also I need to figure a way to turn it into a movie rather than a gif.
