Title: Multilingual Post by: cKleinhuis on July 23, 2011, 01:47:47 PM hi there, recently joined members showed the problem that this forum is english, and the idea occured to include
native language section in a sub-board, the idea would be to have an trustful moderator for each language, i just can watch over the german section, i know we have spanish and french natives hanging around here, and perhaps we could start with a "spanish, french, german" subsection as a starter ... what do you think, and who would like to become a moderator of such sub-boards !? :police: Title: Re: Multilingual Post by: David Makin on July 23, 2011, 04:30:57 PM Excellent idea if you can get the moderators - unfortunately the only other language I ever learned was French, I only did "O" level (at 16) and have never used it since !
Edit: Just one extra thing that the alternate language moderators should watch for and stop is back-biting etc. at other members who do not understand the language used !! This is something that *some* Welsh are known to do - e.g. in a Welsh area in a shop/pub etc. the (Welsh) folks are speaking in English, an English person comes in and as soon as they realise the person is English they switch to speaking in Welsh (which is rude in itself) but they also often comment on the newcomer - I know this happens as it has happened to English people I know who understood Welsh !! Edit: Ooops - I forgot I do know some Latin, but I guess that's not much help either ;) Title: Re: Multilingual Post by: bib on July 23, 2011, 04:39:42 PM I volunteer to moderate the French board :)
Title: Re: Multilingual Post by: cKleinhuis on July 23, 2011, 04:50:55 PM ok, i opened up an "international" section, as a starter there is "german, french, spanish" for spanish we do not have a moderator yet, so it is closed
if anyone would like to host another language ( @kali: italian ? ) please let me know.... :police: Title: Re: Multilingual Post by: bib on July 23, 2011, 04:54:23 PM Kali italian? :) maybe you thought about Darkbeam?!

Title: Re: Multilingual Post by: cKleinhuis on July 24, 2011, 11:27:48 PM Also heavenriver can speak italian, and she is a very affordable person in case I am busy ... :) she should say so herself! Title: Re: Multilingual Post by: DarkBeam on July 24, 2011, 11:50:00 PM I have sent her a message in deviantart. Hope that she feels okay, in this period she seems a bit tired or so. :(
Title: Re: Multilingual Post by: cKleinhuis on July 25, 2011, 02:07:04 AM can you write a short sentence to describe the board in the native language ?
like i did for german Title: Re: Multilingual Post by: David Makin on July 25, 2011, 01:39:56 PM I have to say that Google Translate (to English) works somewhat better with the Spanish and Italian than it does with the German - the German translation is bordering on gibberish !
Or maybe you're just naturally more colloquial Christian ;) Title: Re: Multilingual Post by: cKleinhuis on July 25, 2011, 02:14:38 PM ehrm, i will rework it :D
Title: Re: Multilingual Post by: DarkBeam on July 26, 2011, 09:11:28 AM Ah, I didn't find the button to modify the sentence ;D
"Sezione del forum per parlare in italiano... di frattali!" Hopefully it's okay :) Title: Re: Multilingual Post by: Xenodimensional on July 28, 2011, 02:30:39 PM Can I run the Australian board? :-P
Title: Re: Multilingual Post by: cKleinhuis on July 28, 2011, 04:57:05 PM hmm, it is "called" international, but what is really mean is "languages" and not "countries" ....
perhaps we can think about making true regional boards, but that would be tooo many ... in my opinion .... Title: Re: Multilingual Post by: Xenodimensional on July 28, 2011, 07:27:57 PM haha, I know I know, I was only pulling your leg :evil1:
Title: Re: Multilingual Post by: cKleinhuis on August 03, 2011, 03:04:15 PM added as well an russian section, who wants to be moderator ?!

Title: Re: Multilingual Post by: cKleinhuis on August 04, 2011, 10:03:51 AM because it is read only, until a ,moderator is found
Title: Re: Multilingual Post by: Vega on August 04, 2011, 03:07:26 PM I want to be the moderator of Russian forum.
Title: Re: Multilingual Post by: jehovajah on October 24, 2011, 11:48:41 AM I want to be the moderator of Russian forum. Way to go Vega. Can you do Balkan languages also? Then we can tap into the ceaseless philosophising that goes on in that whole region.Title: Re: Multilingual Post by: lecristal on December 27, 2011, 09:04:26 AM Excellent idea if you can get the moderators - unfortunately the only other language I ever learned was French, I only did "O" level (at 16) and have never used it since !
