Title: Fata Morgana Post by: Don Whitaker on June 15, 2011, 09:20:17 AM Here's my latest Mandelbulb 3D creation.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_YRE5rsMos This one was inspired by Bib993's Weird Planet vids. I was just going to 'go in and render a few quick transforms.' That lead to :w00t: :surprised: and :D - which led to tinkering, testing, lighting and rendering. I'd planned on making my own music for this one, and still may, but I played this Eskmo track over the finished render and it fit so well I had to use it. In case you see something you wish to explore further, here is the .m3a animation file (created with M3D v1.697) http://brainblinks.com/dl/FataMorgana.zip Title: Re: Fata Morgana Post by: DOMEHEAD on June 15, 2011, 10:22:38 AM Great work, very organic. By what means do you bring different elements of the fractal in and out of view?

The morphing shapes and details are created by changing the parameters of the formulas between ketframes of the animation. In this case the options available in the _Rotate function. For this vid I found a range of values that were producing interesting shapes. Then I chose a starting point and set up the camera view and lights. That is the first keyframe. Then I'd change the parameters of the _Rotate function slightly, move the camera, and set a new keyframe. Rinse and repeat. A lot of backtracking, camera adjustments and luck involved too.
