Title: Time to introduce myself Post by: LMarkoya on June 08, 2011, 02:04:00 AM While I have stalked the forum for months, commented on several works and left a few messages, I thought I should formally introduce myself. My name is Louis Markoya, and I am very much a fractal enthusiast, occasionally playing with many programs for years, on and off again. One very fortunate part of my life was that I was a protege to Salvador Dali during the 70's and worked on all sorts of artistic projects with him, including many 3D types of endevors and holograms, which I believe Dali would consider fractal. I am certain were Dali alive today he would not only utilize fractals heavily into his work, but would have built a philosophy and a mysticicm based on them. Since many Dali works show some knowlegde of chaos theory and fractal elemnets, I was trying to contact Benoit Mandelbrot to see if Dali ever had dialog with him, unfortunately he was already ill...so...I'll work on it on my own.
While I always felt I would use fractals in my own works to perhaps carry on with what Dali might have done, it was running into Johans Dalinian fractal masterpieces that drew me back to fractals and this forum. I am in awe of the knowlege and genius here, and hope I can learn and dialog with many of you, and bring some of the ideas I have to bear fractal fruit. Unquestionably the advent of the 3D programs and the implementation in UF have chaged a lot in the fractal world. I hope I can learn enough to bring fractals to the world of fine art. Thank you all for the knowledge and parameters you share here, the most important fractal repository on earth Title: Re: Time to introduce myself Post by: KRAFTWERK on June 08, 2011, 08:49:11 AM You have come to the right place Louis!
This forum is the place where all new ideas are born and where they get scrutinized to the smallest fractal detail. Welcome! Many of the fractal artists here have been inspired by Dali, so that's very interesting to have you on board so you bring your insights. I hope you can show us soon your fractal creations. All the best, bib |
