Title: Mandelbulber crash.
Post by: meegja on May 30, 2011, 09:29:39 PM
Ok, this has happened with all the Mandelbulber revisions so far (I started with 0.97 I believe): a lot of times Mandelbulber crashes when it comes to the point of creating a Depth Of Field effect. In the Timeline it says: "Rendering Depth Of Field effect. Randomizing zBuffer". And then Mandelbulber does crash. It does this around 20% of the times. Sometimes restarting Mandelbulber and doing the scene again does resolve it. Sometimes it does it over and over again with the same scene.

For research I did attach the file that gives the crash over and over again.

Mandelbulber 1.02 on a Windows 7 Prof. 64 bits system (Dutch).
AMD Quad core 3.4 GHz CPU
10 Gb 1333 DDR3 memory

Is anybody observed the same problem. On my computer on Ubuntu, Debian and WinXP this problem doesn't appear. I can't test it on Win7 (I don't have this OS). Please let me know if somebody can help me in this topic.

Don't know if it is of any use but here is the Windows 7 problem signature of the crash when I try to do DOF on this render. All names are in Dutch, can translate if needed. This happened with Mandelbulber 1.02. But I just tried it with 1.03 and the same result: crash.
As extra information: in the DOS-box there is no mention of starting the DOF what so ever. So looks like Mandelbulber does crash without even starting the DOF. Again: only around 20% of the times that this happens. Sometimes randomly and sometimes all the time in 1 file (like the attached file) .
