Title: Hi from maxide Post by: maxide on April 12, 2011, 10:59:43 PM Hi all from maxide, I'm italian, I've met fractals when I was young (1986), when with a MSX (Z80 3,14 MHz computer) I was able to render (in BASIC) a 256x192 BW Mandelbrot image in ... 54 minutes ! ;) And today that I am ... still young (!) I'm not able to measure the few microseconds necessary to render a 1920x1200 Mandelbrot 32bit image ;) Bye. Maxide

Wow ! "MSX", haven't heard that name for so long that I'd actually forgotten it, though I did own one once for a brief period (post Dragon32 + SinclairQL and pre-AtariST + Amiga). In fact I can't even remember the make of MSX I owned, it wasn't one of the major brands - just the cheapest I could find ! I'm actually kind of pleased that I didn't discover fractals myself until April 1999 (when I first played with Fractint) because I think that the render times involved before then would probably have put me off, though having said that I have several times had various systems rendering away for weeks or even months for a single fractal image albeit at 8000*6000 or similar ;) Title: Re: Hi from maxide Post by: Erisian on April 13, 2011, 09:21:50 PM Hi.
