Title: Finally fixed IQ-bulb! Post by: DarkBeam on March 26, 2011, 11:52:13 AM :D :D :D
Finally I found the errors I made in IQ bulb. Now it finally looks right. Not jet uploaded the formula itself, a matter of minutes ;D The main difference in IQ is the poles orientation... Hoping that is not due again to my mistakes... :sad1: Sorry sorry EDIT: No, it's mainly due to the different axis definition, IQ uses z-x angles. I hope! :suspious: Title: IFS tessellation samples Post by: DarkBeam on March 28, 2011, 11:20:11 AM IFS tessellation samples ^-^ (two trees and two dragons)

A problem are the cut surfaces, if everything fails you try the "Normals on Zbuffer" function in the postprocessings. Did this in attached pic. Post by: bib on March 28, 2011, 11:14:27 PM Thanks Jesse, but obviously there is some remaining noise here. Is that a problem with the formula itself?
Title: Re: Finally fixed IQ-bulb! Post by: Jesse on March 29, 2011, 12:14:32 AM This is a problem of many formulas or hybrids, a conditional change in the vector that does not confirm some rules, can introduce steps in the DE function.* Maybe some rendering methods can handle this better, but i am not that mathematic genius.
*add: for example the formula should take care that two nearby points stays in nearly the same distance after one iteration (just following the normal scaling function of the formula). So you can do a conditional folding savely, if the folding point stays connected. On the other hand, if the point without folding and a nearby point with folding disappeared from each other after that iteration, the distance estimate would be very low (with a DE based on the vectorlength gradient), creating a noise pixel at that folding plane. That should be the main problem in this case. Title: Re: Finally fixed IQ-bulb! Post by: DarkBeam on March 29, 2011, 12:35:50 AM Barnsley and this formula share this "direct cut" method. Allows to get great images but raw cuts cause troubles I am so sorry of that :(

Post by: Jesse on April 24, 2011, 10:10:54 PM Looks interesting, some general hints for the formula generation:
If you got a double power or scale in the formula, please put it in the first place of all user values. If there is no fixed power, the program looks in the first place for a value to calculate something out of it. And normally the .DEoption should be 0 for a 3d power or scale formula, but you might have noticed too that the rendering becomes ill posed because the DE's are not good (you can always verify this by choosing a value of 11 for example for DEstop and then you should get a 10 pixel bigger radius for the structures on a 1:1 scale and with a VaryDEstopOnZ). Dunno the reason for it and how it could be fixed though... Nevertheless keep on going, recently i had time to give some of your plenty formulas a try and had really some nice results and fun with it! Title: Re: Finally fixed IQ-bulb!
