Title: Animating The DE Value In Mandelbulb 3D
Post by: Sockratease on March 12, 2011, 12:51:58 AM
http://www.vimeo.com/20936784

Just a junky test animation - but I had to make a Vimeo Account since youtube now demands that you log in with a google account!  I do not want, nor will I ever have, a google account - In fact...  I boycott google!  I block them with every blocking tool I can get.

So I'm now switching to Vimeo and may never be able to access my youtube account again.

Their loss.

Nice result  :)
Looks like a tent that gets blown up with air :D

I was also pissed about the compulsory google-account. For a long time I got annoyed by YouTube, every time I've logged on they tried to talk me into a google account.
Now that you must have one to use YouTube I've also thought about quitting. But on the other hand i thought that this account doesn't changes a lot about the conventional use of those centralized portals. All of those, equally if YouTube, Facebook, MySpace, Twitter or Google are probably logging your data and making statistics for their real customers who want to know what's going on in the world to make their next product or to write the right things in their election campaign. If they buy it from YouTube or Google doesn't make much difference I think.
Probably they just centralize their logging system for lesser administration effort ;)
What you can do to make it harder for those information suckers is to use big proxys like www.scroogle.org, so they don't know the user with IP x has searched for A while doing B, just that the IP of the big proxy has searched for a lot of things = difficult to make individual profiles.
But even if you use big proxys they can make statistics of trends, just not associative ones.
So to knock out such systems we should avoid centralized portals or create a big botnet searching for rubbish with anti-trend themes to create wrong statistics ^^
In my case, I've created a google account because I have a static IP and use google over the scroogle proxy -> no association between my google-searches and YouTube and no worse situation than before.
Also thought about changing to vimeo, but who guarantees me that they don't do the same?
Would be a good thing if we get our own webspace (really cheap those days) and share our stuff in smaller non-commercial portals like this forum.

Nice DE animation.

Btw I think  you don't need a Google account to keep using Youtube, you just need to attach an existing e-mail address to your Youtube account.

Thanks for the kind words   :embarrass:

Nope - you need a google account - unless you meant an active gmail account and not email in general.

I have never forgiven google for not being a search engine, and never will.  I didn't mind using youtube even though google owned them, because it still seemed separate.

Here's what they did to enrage me:

I had a personal art website years ago. I gave it a nonsense word for a url.

The day it went online I tried all the major search engines and most found it within hours of going online just by typing the nonsense word in the search field.

All found it within a week.

EXCEPT google.

They said I had to PAY them to find it.  There was a $5 "Sumbission Fee" if you wanted to have them find your site  (they would have found it if I bothered networking and link trading with sites they did find, but that should not be required for a search engine to find a site if you type in the word in the url between www. and .com!).

After a few months I did get a result from google.

They found Yahoo's Cache of my site, but NEVER found my site.

They are NOT a search engine.  And never were.

I do not support liars and shining examples of Corporate Greed like google.

So...  It's Vimeo for me from now on   O0

I understand and respect your position. And I confirm that I can still use Youtube whereas I have no gmail account, I gave them my good old address @ my provider .fr
