Title: Turn yer bulb inside out Post by: M Benesi on February 22, 2011, 08:38:28 PM Simple method, if you want an inside-out bulb.
Take your pixel values, using whatever formula yur usin', and do this: pixel x,y,z = [pixel x,y,z]^-1 You gotta do it before you start adding the pixel values in, of course. It's a similar approach to the inverted "teardrop" Mandelbrot planar reformulation. In fact... it's basically that <reformulation> extended to 3d..... works well with the "correct" set. Not way to useful... or maybe it is. You can be in the very center, looking out. Of course, you can also look at the "inside" from the outside as the whole thing is turned inside out. The whole thing makes me angry, like a sock that I forgot to turn rightside out before I threw it in the sock drawer....... pile.... whatever. Title: Re: Turn yer bulb inside out Post by: cKleinhuis on February 22, 2011, 08:50:23 PM this is a simple coordinate-transofrm, as the inverse mandelbrot, a good approach for rendering the inside,
@the bulb renderer developers: a coordinate-transform possibility would be great! because the inverse method can be applied to just ANY fractal/formula type! Title: Re: Turn yer bulb inside out Post by: Jesse on February 22, 2011, 10:10:36 PM Of course, you can also look at the "inside" from the outside as the whole thing is turned inside out. The problem with DE based rendering stays... it is like you are already inside if starting to render :sad1: But in the inside you can explore the cave world :dink: Title: Re: Turn yer bulb inside out Post by: David Makin on February 22, 2011, 11:05:02 PM I'm glad the subject in this thread was fractal-related and not.............anything to do with .................. daffodil bulbs.

Question: is it possible to circumscribe a box around the bulb, then cut through the resulting box and bulb, in Boolean math terms this would be called a subtraction? Title: Re: Turn yer bulb inside out Post by: Jesse on February 24, 2011, 12:30:12 AM Yes, that is with cutting.
There are many options for combinings, though a boolean combination like suggested is not what i can do yet. But some other, first 8 its P8 then box, and the other one is with a condition on R and choose between mengerIFS and P8: Title: Re: Turn yer bulb inside out Post by: M Benesi on February 24, 2011, 06:25:14 AM I'm glad the subject in this thread was fractal-related and not.............anything to do with .................. daffodil bulbs. Lol. Thanks for the laugh... Jesse's spot on. <tip o' the hat> Now, off to make another new thread, although with me crying wolf so many times... well, you will see. Simply phenomenal. O0 Nice images!!! Me want :) |
