Title: 2nd mandelbox animation Post by: Persistent_Aura on February 19, 2011, 06:23:15 PM Well here's my second attempt at a mandelbox animation.
Music was made by me a year or two ago. http://www.youtube.com/v/o6wSFd9p1EA I do have question though. How come my animation renders always randomly crash when I choose resolution greater than 480x340 pixels? I can easily do normal renders up to 7200x4800 pixels without problems. if anyone could help that would be much appreciated :) greets Title: Re: 2nd mandelbox animation Post by: ant123 on February 21, 2011, 12:17:35 AM very nice work. nice music and quite original architecture. 480p? at least 720p resolution makes the effort of making the vid a much more durable investment of your time, and it means that the detail is visible! hi res is essential for me!

Well, it was already said that animations greater than 480x360 could not be made due to crashes. I do have question though. How come my animation renders always randomly crash when I choose resolution greater than 480x340 pixels? I can easily do normal renders up to 7200x4800 pixels without problems. if anyone could help that would be much appreciated :) I'm not sure what's going on, but someone will probably be along to help. :) Title: Re: 2nd mandelbox animation Post by: Kali on February 21, 2011, 04:50:59 AM Nice! On the render issue... I would assume that you have hardly any free memory... or maybe no paging file on your drive? Title: Re: 2nd mandelbox animation Post by: Persistent_Aura on March 06, 2011, 09:47:42 PM I've got 4gb of RAM memory. I only have bad onboard graphics though. Might this be the reason?
Title: Re: 2nd mandelbox animation Post by: Persistent_Aura on March 06, 2011, 09:57:19 PM I should have a new animation done tommorow btw :) still 480p but 3x antialiasing so it's still better than the previous one. it will also be the same stille of music more or less.

First -- good stuff! Second -- I understand your frustration. My linux system went to the great silicon beyond and I tried like heck to find a Windows non-linear editor (what you need) for a good price (free). Thankfully, got my system on its feet, but not before I tested a couple of options. I had the best luck with Pinnacle VideoSpin, which is what I used for my 'Bone Machine' animation, and it worked pretty well. The only thing about VideoSpin is that the version I downloaded said it was freeware, but then said something about a 15-day limit...may just need to register. Either way, it has it's own site and this is the download, though it might ask you to register: http://cdnexpress.pinnaclesys.com/CDN/VideoSpin/2_0/VideoSpin_2_0_Setup.exe?language=EN (http://cdnexpress.pinnaclesys.com/CDN/VideoSpin/2_0/VideoSpin_2_0_Setup.exe?language=EN) Another possibility is PowerDirector (http://www.cyberlink.com/products/powerdirector/overview_en_US.html (http://www.cyberlink.com/products/powerdirector/overview_en_US.html)), though I haven't been able to find the freeware version that isn't a trial of some sort. A third, though I haven't tested it out, is VideoThang. It's here: http://download.cnet.com/VideoThang/3000-13631_4-10757786.html (http://download.cnet.com/VideoThang/3000-13631_4-10757786.html) Another consideration is the codec you're using. I tend to use XVid. For conversions, I have used TMPGenc, which has a limited, free, version. http://tmpgenc.pegasys-inc.com/en/download/tpfree.html (http://tmpgenc.pegasys-inc.com/en/download/tpfree.html) These are about it for free options. Although I really like KDEnlive for linux, I would recommend against installing a virtual machine just to run it -- something with the interpreting...the video output was atrocious. Hope this helps. I'd like to see this vid in a higher resolution! As would you, I'm sure. ;D Title: Re: 2nd mandelbox animation Post by: Persistent_Aura on March 08, 2011, 02:54:08 PM thank you kon16ov for the tips I will definetely consider trying some of these programs. I saw I posted the same video twice instead of posting the new one so I have edited my post and changed it. |
