Hi everyone,

Greetings from Bernhard, a fellow fractal fanatic from the Netherlands.

I have been fascinated by fractals for a very long time.
During my student days, about 25 years ago, I was playing around with some fractal software (don't remember the name, but
I don't think it was Fractint) and watched the monitor in suspense as pixel by pixel would appear on the screen. First the
dots that appeared seemed to be randomly placed, but after some time gradually a pattern would emerge, in most cases
looking like some gnarled tree...

About that time, there was an article about the Mandelbrot set in the Scientific American, and as I first just looked at
the images, I did not realize it was about mathematics and first assumed it might probably be about an astronomical
phenomenon.

I became "rehooked" (if such a word exists) to fractals when I started to use Ultra Fractal a few months ago. Since then I
have been spending many of my free hours in learning how to use and in playing around with this program, and recently I
signed up to Renderosity and posted some of my UF images there.

On Renderosity I saw many of these incredible Mandelbulb3d images, so a few days ago I downloaded the latest version, and
I am already starting to notice the first symptoms of an FISDD (fun-induced sleep deficit disorder (just one more render !!!))

Maybe it's time to change the name of the forum to Mandelbulbous Anonymous... Or just a subsection for addicts who want to get rid of their habit  :D I've been thinking about opening a clinic, but I haven't got the time in between M3D renders  :dink: Anyway, welcome to the forums from another Dutch addict, Bernard
