Title: Hey Post by: Twoheadstalking on December 05, 2010, 08:55:11 PM Hello everyone,
I have absolutely no experience with fractals but having watched some videos on the web, seen some of the art on these forums and being interested in this sort of maths since I was a teenager I've decided its time to actually get making some. I look forward to learning from these forums :) THT Title: Re: Hey Post by: bib on December 05, 2010, 09:04:29 PM Hi Twoheadstalking,
Welcome to the forum, feel at home at don't hesitate to ask any question. Have you decided what you want to try for a start? Title: Re: Hey Post by: miqel on December 06, 2010, 05:41:19 AM welcome!
Do you have any fractal generation programs? I use KPT Fraxplorer (Photoshop plugin) and Mandelbulber, but most of my friends love Ultrafractal. It's fun to just download a program and jump right into making images, it doesn't take long to get used to navigating fractals. Eventually you will get an intuition for where to find interesting places. There's an art to applying the right color palette to really highlight specific aspects of the patterns, and this is best learned by trial and error. It's also neat that you're seeing a mathematical/geometrical space that is new and undiscovered -since it's not likely that any two people will take the exact same path zooming into a fractal. Here's a link to dozens of fractal programs (it's an old page, so some links may be dead) https://www.fractalus.com/fractal-art-faq/faq06.html There's also probably a category on here somewhere for figuring out the best software to use Title: Re: Hey Post by: Twoheadstalking on December 06, 2010, 09:11:43 PM Thanks for the warm welcomes. I've just downloaded some software so will start having a play with them now, no doubt lots of questions will be following shortly. No idea where to head to first (the more I peer into this world the vaster it becomes) but I hope to be able to share some work in the not too distant future. |
