Title: PROCESS VS RESULT Post by: Bent-Winged Angel on November 16, 2010, 03:54:35 PM Are you a process or result orientated person? What would be the positive/negative side to each?
Title: Re: PROCESS VS RESULT Post by: Madman on November 16, 2010, 06:08:12 PM Interesting question... Why should you be one or the other? You need a good process to get a good result, but in the end it's the result that counts. So you do need a good process to get a good result, although a "good" process may be completely different for two different people. Which automatically leads to the fact that the negative is being 100% process or 100% result. You need a bit of both worlds ;-)

Some seem to believe & or be disappointed when they find out that an image was not completely calculated out mathmatically. I put a lot of stock in effort. For example there are programs that with 2 clicks you will get a fracta image. Not knowing anything of the why's of it! I have to admit find that a lil disingenuous. Maybe as disingenuous as some may find my creations. :embarrass: :dink: Title: Re: PROCESS VS RESULT Post by: ker2x on November 24, 2010, 11:12:01 PM Ho, it's simple ! Demonstration :
Amazing : The process is very interesting, even if the result is really bad (for a violin song). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzjkBwZtxp4 Amazing : Both the process and the result is good. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hGCl_XEjYBM&feature=related Bleh ... (yawn!) : The result is certainly good and exactly how it's supposed to be played but the process ... okay, it's pachelbel canon in D, so what ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JvNQLJ1_HQ0 Title: Re: PROCESS VS RESULT Post by: Jameses on November 24, 2010, 11:25:07 PM I dont see how it has to be an either/or question. it all about balance. this very philosphy would work wonders accross the world. but alas, intellegence isnt very popular.

I guess it would depend on the idividuals interests/focus. I dont see how it has to be an either/or question. it all about balance. this very philosphy would work wonders accross the world. but alas, intellegence isnt very popular. Very true Jameses. No one should take an easy way out. Each individual has differering capacities & I believe would should challenge ourselves.Title: Re: PROCESS VS RESULT Post by: teamfresh on November 27, 2010, 10:02:56 PM Are you a process or result orientated person? What would be the positive/negative side to each? I think I am both, which is annoying! Title: Re: PROCESS VS RESULT Post by: reallybigname on November 28, 2010, 11:55:16 PM Isn't fractal art literally all about the iterative process? So, my process is to find a good process in order to get results... So, does that make me results-oriented?
Title: Re: PROCESS VS RESULT Post by: ker2x on November 29, 2010, 09:13:19 AM About fractals ...
I'm interested in computer generated fractal. That mean, for me, that a specific process exist : - it must be computer generated - it must be ... a fractal ! - a home made program is prefered, but it's not mandatory A enjoy watching nice result. But if the process isn't respected i'm not interested. When i see an awesome fractal my first question is "how ?" - how is it possible to do something so nice just by using some mathematic tricks ? - how can i do it myself ? - how much time does it took to render ? About photoshoped fractal, collage, etc ... - is there some kind of self-similarity ? - can i zoom in ? Nope ? It's not a fractal. And for most photophoped fractal, the answer for both question is "no". That's why the process is important and that's why i don't care about their results. Title: Re: PROCESS VS RESULT Post by: Bent-Winged Angel on November 29, 2010, 03:57:41 PM Fractal art needs to be iterative/algorithmic by definiton. To do this you need fractal software. Otherwise it is just Computer generated art. I personally do not believe in post processing such a photoshopping. Rendering time makes no difference to me. I remember seeing older fractal art programs that did not have a rendering feature! Everyone has their own process/capabilities & I respect them all! There is a lot to be said for effort.
Title: Re: PROCESS VS RESULT Post by: Wel lEnTaoed on November 30, 2010, 08:37:51 PM Getting the desired result is what matters the most. For example you may be concidered an "expert" at programming, math & science. But you still need an artists eye, intuition, passion? In general a "knack" for creating the asthetically pleasing. There seems to be 2 types of fractal extremes. those who put math 1st & those who put art 1st. Normal is probably in the middle (those who combine process with result.) |
