woah, sharp and excellent!
you got parameter files or bigger resolution ? ( for background image usage :D )

Absolutely gorgeous, Rev!  Bravo!

I must concur Trifox, though a params file would shed insight as to how I could do such things, since I'm a bit of a neophyte with the 3D software doinking.  :embarrass:

I have parameter files, but the colors are different.

Alot of the time, I will render a fractal one way, then mess around with the colors and lighting afterward.  This usually results in 2 or 3 of the same image, but with different color.  The color sequence with this is the Slime preset, but with the interior color changed so the brot comes up light blue, instead of pink.

That being said, here's the params:

Thank you for sharing the m3p file. I'm also a newbie who wants to unlock the secrets of MB3D and this is eactly the kind of thing I been wondering about doing.
Off now for serious experimentation and exploration.  ;D

How do I load that text into the program?

I copied and pasted into a text document and rename to .m3p but to no avail...

am I stupid?

Copy the text then use the 'Open Parameter From Clipboard Text' option, it's found to the immediate left of the 'Jpeg' button on the main window.

Excellent, thank you :-)

It really is lovely to see a familar shape within the madness of these new 3D fractals!

Very cool to see, yeah.  I hope you don't mind, Rev, but I'm rendering an interesting (hopefully) anim showing some interesting progressions within the params you set forth.   Honestly, I have no idea when it will be done (it would probably finish more quickly if I weren't running another instance of Maldelbulb3D rendering an anim, UF5, FX and Mandelbulber at the same time.  Oh, yeah, and the new version of MDZ...), but I'll let you know!

Bleeuurrrggghhhhh!  :nerd: :clown: :sadness: :vomit: Bloody windows programs! What the hell does that mean? How am I supposed to figure out if Mandelbulber can do this or not!?!? (((sorry I'm not really trolling))) What type of fractal is this? It's not just a heightfield of the 2d M-set is it? Is it a full-blown 3d dude or a spherical projection of a 2d based 3d heightfield or something? :angel1:

EDIT: Oh yeah, it is a nice render :-)

It's a 3D fractal, in Mandelbulb 3D, based on a trick I learned from bib.  You set the mandelbulb (Integer) to power 2 and cut along the Z dimension.  This gives you the full mandelbrot set to zoom and explore.  The spherical appearance is acheived by setting a higher than 30 setting on the camera FoV.

Thanks! I have made a few experiments with the limits settings in Mandelbulber to cut along planes while rendering the Quaternion or Hypercomplex, or Polynomic ^ 2, but completely lacking the degrees of success your images show, but now I know :-)

Well now I see what I was doing wrong. Cutting along the wrong plane and in the wrong position. Playing with the cut along the zero Z plane, it has good navigational possibilities - you can explore a 3d fractal as you would the Mandelbrot set and find some interesting locations and then remove the cut.
