Title: Dusty power -1.5 Mandelboxes Post by: nameinuse2 on November 07, 2010, 12:53:10 AM Playing around with negative power Mandelboxes and folding limits that are very small, zero or negative produces some very strange "murals" and thin sheets, but also tons of artifacting. I tried with this one to incorporate the artifacting as part of the aesthetic, like the box is decaying, or being sucked into another dimension:

Anyway, hope you like... Title: Re: Dusty power -1.5 Mandelboxes Post by: cbuchner1 on November 07, 2010, 03:01:45 AM Wow. That clip is art.
aesthetics and sound... you nailed it! How long did you work on this? Title: Re: Dusty power -1.5 Mandelboxes Post by: nameinuse2 on November 07, 2010, 03:34:54 AM Cheers man, much appreciated. It did take quite a few weeks come to think of it. That's the 8th iteration of parameters and fly-through viewpoints, and it took about 15 days to render at 1024x576 due to the ridiculously low DE step factor.

Good stuff, and inspiring, as well. 15 days -- wow. I guess I won't whine so much about my 3-5 day renders. ;D Again, well done! Phil |
