Title: Mandelbulb3D depth help
Post by: Lee Oliver on November 07, 2010, 12:19:56 AM
I made a Madelbox/menger/foldingOct box and I ran into a little problem,I cannot navigate very far into it.  This is about as far as I got because when I try to go beyond the pillars at the top and bottom of the image it becomes overcome with fog.  I turned the depth value to zero but that didn't help. :-\

Any advice would be appreciated, Thanks :)

It's difficult to answer this question without the actual parameters, so I'm probably going to tell you something you already tried: Have you tried changing Zend to a larger value?

Try to increase the "far plane" in the 3D navigator, I'm pretty sure it will solve your issue :)

I don't know why this parameter can only be be modified in the 3D navigator, and not in the main window. Jesse??

If you use "fixed zoom and steps" in the navigator, you'll be able to zoom further down in  the bulb. Without I do indeed get the problem you describe. See text paramter file below for a little further zoom. Hope this helps. It's a great render by the way!!

So you got already the right answers, sometimes the farplane (or Zend value relative to Zstart with respect for the Zoom in the main window) has to made very big to see some of the structures that could be seen some steps before.
Then the tip with the fixed zoom and steps can be very useful, enable it just before stepping forward so the zoom does not increase and the far structures does not vanish.
When clippings in the forground are occuring, you have to let the zoom increase of course.
Just for navigating this is no problem, dont forget to disable the fixed settings if you passed such structures and want to zoom out again.

Thanks all, I never thought to try those things, nor did I even see some in animation.  I rarely use animation.
