What software did you use? (Or is "Boxplorer" the name of it - never heard of it, but I'm still discovering new software for fractals all the time on this site).

BTW, that K-ifs image is really clean. I love the texture. Be careful where you show it tho. It could excite a hungry zombie! "brains...." LOL The Rev Title: Re: exploring boxplorer Post by: visual.bermarte on November 26, 2010, 01:12:54 AM menger (Knighty's)

I really need to finish the HUD someday...
Title: Re: exploring boxplorer Post by: reallybigname on December 01, 2010, 11:11:39 AM I really love this real-time business! I had done some experimenting with boxplorer already, but I will play with it some more now that I've seen these screens!
Yes, please make a HUD/UI. But, before you do all that, can you make it so that if you're holding a mouse button to fly, it also steers the camera like when you're sitting still? :pray2: Maybe its already an option and I missed it... I'll check it out some more. I downloaded all of your sample cfg files. :nerd: EDIT: Nevermind, duh, I found it. Hold down alt. I guess I want it to be so you hold down alt to make it go straight. Maybe you should just make it a toggle? I'm having fun with it now, and downloaded all of your sample cfg files. But, I'm getting laggy when I go fullscreen, although it runs pretty fast in a window. I have an ATI Radeon HD 5830. Title: Re: exploring boxplorer Post by: KRAFTWERK on December 01, 2010, 03:11:50 PM I love those "inside your blood system" images in the first post Visual! (B) ;)

Title: Re: exploring boxplorer Post by: reallybigname on December 03, 2010, 09:39:38 PM This is my first test using FRAPS to record my journey in boxplorer. I also did some post temporal smoothing and noise reduction in VirtualDub. I'm using my gamepad (Logitech Rumblepad 2) to control the movement, although it seems like I could adjust the sensitivity a little better. It was hard to bind everything so it would work, but now it's like I'm playing a mandelbox video game!

Let me suggest anttweakbar (http://www.antisphere.com/Wiki/tools:anttweakbar) for the HUD. It's excellent even if it haven't been updated since april 2009. I've used it in an old toy project. I've attached a modified fragment shader where I've added yet another Menger sponge formula with some variations (see this thread (http://www.fractalforums.com/3d-fractal-generation/revenge-of-the-half-eaten-menger-sponge/) for details). Actually, what you get by default is a blend between a sphere and a menger sponge. Try key[1] to key[4] to change parameters. the zip contains also the config file and a shortcut (in order to use the provided config instead of the default one). Hope you'll like it ;D. I totally see the resemblance, especially in the first part. After being frustrated with rendering for a week to get a 2 minute animation, for once, I wanted to make a nice long movie. I can't wait to try some other formulas - if I can find some other fragment.glsl files. Hard to find though... I might try to reprogram my own. I know a bit about programming, but not much about fractal al gore rythms! :vomit: Title: Re: exploring boxplorer Post by: visual.bermarte on December 15, 2010, 11:40:44 AM @reallybigname: i have watched the video a few times O0

Nicely ominous. Find attached a 1522+ shader w/ nicer coloring than just brown. This time actually tested on osx as well; those shader compilers are picky.. How have you managed to remove the "extra features" on the top side? Title: Re: exploring boxplorer Post by: visual.bermarte on May 08, 2011, 01:54:32 PM ;D increasing iterations helps but then it's difficult to recognize the shapes from a distance. :hurt:
2 remove the extra-shapes i can set scale to around 3.116 and leave iterations to 5-6..otherwise touching just a bit CX=1,CY=0 or CZ=0 would remove 'randomly' the extra-features on the top or on the base (or 'peripherically') but not both. Title: Re: exploring boxplorer Post by: visual.bermarte on May 11, 2011, 09:09:41 AM hello.world//thanx 2 DarkBeam :)
