Title: Zooming In - Background Disappearing Post by: Russ McClay on October 22, 2010, 03:00:07 PM What setting do I need to change to avoid the background disappearing when I zoom in with the Navigator in certain areas?
Also, the colors look "richer" in the Navigator than the transferred view in the output window when I use <-View? Mandelbulb3D is wonderful. Happy to be using it. Thx Title: Re: Zooming In - Background Disappearing Post by: The Rev on October 22, 2010, 05:02:25 PM I tend to notice something similar with the foreground. As I close in on objects in an animation, they get "clipped off", leaving a flat area of color. When I adjust the Zstart, however, it changes the frame. Is there another way to include more close up detail without changing the view in the img?
Thanks, The Rev Title: Re: Zooming In - Background Disappearing Post by: Jesse on October 22, 2010, 09:41:48 PM In the Navi, the "Far plane" value is responsible for the maximum distance the rays are calculated.
Changing the Zstart value is normally not needed when using the navigator for the animation keyframes, else you have to increase the zoom factor when decreasing the Zstart value, what is like stepping back. That can only lead to a similar view, not exactly the same, but that may be neglected in an animation. (http://www.fractalforums.com/gallery/3/3010_23_10_10_12_35_10.jpeg) I'm guessing the green spots are where the camera got too close to the object, and some was clipped off and filled in with the green color(?). What do I do to eliminate this problem, so that I can get in close if I want to? Like this: Yes in Fractal Explorer it is called "front trimming" & can be removed . But I could not find a way to remove it in Mandelbulb 3d. I get around it by using the 3D Naviagtor and setting the "Min Distance" (in the drop down menu ) (click the arrow in the lower right of the 3D Navigator) to 0.01 or anything arbitrarily small, but greater than Zero (it defaults to zero). It's the only way I ever found to keep that from happening in my animations.
