Title: 1st Mandelbox...jitterbug? Post by: kon16ov on October 12, 2010, 02:28:32 PM Howdy,
I decided to see what this Mandelbox is all about so I set out to do a fun flythrough in Mandelbulb3D. The results are here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DeLKcV7Uvl4 I would appreciate feedback on it, especially regarding a few points that have me scratching my head. a) at the 1:24 mark, or so, the camera starts jittering like it downed three pots of expresso, and this lasts to the end of the anim, off and on. I am not sure why it did that... b) lots of moire interference patterns on the spheroids around 30 second mark. is this a settings issue? c) the very end of the anim has a fairly widespread artifacting problem (it almost looks like it's partially underwater) -- again, is this a settings issue? Thanks! Phil Title: Re: 1st Mandelbox...jitterbug? Post by: miner49er on October 13, 2010, 02:15:11 PM Nice animation!
I have no idea what causes the jitteryness though...my guess would be an rounding-error in the floating point numbers, I.E. there are not enough decimal places...I would be interested to know what is the actual answer though. nice first video... the jitter effect in the end seems to be what miner49er already said, at high zooms the double precision vars produces artifacts like in the very end. Maybe i could reduce the jittering ones a bit if it does not slows down the rendering to much. The aliasing like artifacts looks like overstepping, then you have to reduce the "Raystep multiplier" in the calculation tab somewhat. Title: Re: 1st Mandelbox...jitterbug? That's a neat thing....will have to delve more internally than just skimming around the surface, next time. @Jesse - I just saw that you put up 1.6.5. I'm looking forward to giving it a test run, soon. I don't have the particular params file with me, so I may just have to make a new one. Darn. ;D Again, thanks for the kind words! Phil |
